That's how the greatest thing in sports (HATE) is made, the reason Michigan and Ohio State hate each other is because they've had decades of destroying each other's seasons and now that means nothing

Jaysonguy

Florida-Florida St. still hate each other. USC-Notre Dame still hate each other. Those schools aren't even the same conference. Hate is bred from history. These school's will always have it. It's why this commercial will always be disgusting. These schools aren't going to hate each other any less if they're in different divisions. They'll still be able to ruin eachother's season. Nothing about this is going to hurt the Ohio St.-Michigan rivalry.

You're operating under the assumption that both teams will be leading their divisions. Considering Michigan's record the past couple years, that seems unlikely. Also, in the scenario where they are both winning their division, a loss in either the regular season game or the Big 10 championship could knock the team out of the national championship game. Again, a lot of outrage over what amounts to very little. And as far as this goes:

So we have no guarentee that Michigan vs Ohio State will be the last game of the regular season and in some years they'll meet the week after

Jaysonguy

I again reiterate that the Big 10 knows what they're doing, and knows what games get ratings. They aren't moving this game from their regular season finale for the foreseeable future. Remember, everything the NCAA, it's conferences, and these major schools do is about increasing TV revenues.

This thread has a whole lot of unnecessary outrage. I can't believe anyone thought the Big Ten would give up it's biggest rating earner. Remember, all this shuffling around of teams and conferences is about TV dollars. From Big Ten press release:

Each school will play the other five schools within its division and will also face three teams from the other division, including one cross-division matchup guaranteed on an annual basis. The guaranteed cross-division matchups are Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Penn State-Nebraska, Purdue-Iowa and Wisconsin-Minnesota

From ESPN article:

Ohio State and Michigan will play each other every year on the last day of the Big Ten season, and could conceivably play each other twice in one season. Because they are in different divisions, the Buckeyes and Wolverines could play in the new Big Ten championship game.

since the twins are basically out of the playoffs and mauer doing nothing in the the series against the tigers he basically lost this"no race" mvpNetYankEagle
So because Mauer played like a mere human for 3 games, that should out weigh him playing better than everyone else in baseball (not named Albert Pujols) for the rest of the season?

Parity doesn't come from rookie pay scales or salary caps. In fact, it could be argued that those things actually harm parity. Case in point: Over the past 30 years, 19 teams have won the World Series (Phillies, Red Sox, Cardinals, Marlins, Angels, Diamondbacks, Yankees, Braves, Blue Jays, Twins, Reds, A's, Dodgers, Twins, Mets, Royals, Tigers, Orioles, Pirates) in Major League Baseball with no rookie pay scale, no salary cap, and a relatively high luxury tax. Over the same 30 years, 8 teams have won NBA Championships (Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Heat, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, 76ers) with a hard salary cap, a luxury tax, and a rigid rookie pay scale.

If breaking a slotting system will ruin sports, than surely Rick Porcello is ruining parity in baseball, but he isn't. Instead, Rick Porcello fell to a team that is willing to pay him his market value, and fight stupidity and greed by pro sports owners. Rooting against Crabtree to get what he would in an open market is rooting greedy billionaire owners. It's rooting for a command economy. It's rooting for the Soviet Union to win the cold war. It's bad for the players and bad for the game. And, it's downright un-American.

And by the way, I'm a die-hard '9ers fan, and would like nothing more than for Crabtree to sign as quickly, and cheaply, as possible so he can report to training camp, but every now and then you have to put aside your love of your favorite NFL team for your love of your country and free-market economics.

When I use my iPhone to go to www.gamespot.com it redirects to iphone.gamespot.com why?

Can this be stopped, because this bothers me alot and it shouldn't do this because the iPhone has a full browser called Safari.

Please fix this or is there something that I need to do to stop it?

If you scroll to the bottom, there's a link that says "Go to the GameSpot.com website" on the bottom of the page. That will lead you back to the main version of GameSpot.

[QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]Has he won a championship yet? Then he isn't a great QB yet. There are exceptions, such as Dan Marino. But let's be honest, Dan Marino is a better QB than McNabb could ever hope to be.NetYankEagle
so by your logic Reggie Miller/Allen Iverson/Alex Rodriguez/Cal Ripkin are all horrible players cuz they dont have rings...

Not to nitpick, but Cal Ripken won a championship with the Orioles in '83, the same year he won his first MVP.

The database that stores the records for user images and albums is currently down for maintenance. We hope to have them back up and running soon, but I have no ETA at this time. The servers that hold the actual image files are still up and working. Sorry for any inconvinience.

DeAngelo Hall is a complete fraud and everyone on the field knew it last night. Especially Jay Cutler, who continually picked on him giving Royal a huge recieving night. If Hall wants to know what a real shutdown corner looks like, he should look across the field at Nnamdi Asomugha. He might be the most underrated corner in football.
