 yeah, get with the times dude! jk

S-video and composite are basically the same thing. Your TV probably adjusts the luminance on S-Video signals lower than standard composites. I have never noticed a real improvement by using S-video signals.

um hate to break it to you but HDTV *is* 20th century tech. HDTV's were made in 1996, the same year as N64. You won't notice the improvement on a modern HDTV but on a set made in the late 90's you would HD or otherwise.

If you want your N64 games to look their best on an HDTV you need to use the S-Video Cable, you need to set the TV to 4:3 mode and if you can adjust resolution you don't want to go over 480 if it's a set that uses native resolution there is nothing you can do about the upconverting but if you leave the AR as 4x3 instead of stretching to 16x9 (unless it's one of those rare games that supports widescreen then go a head and set it to 16x9)

N64 is tricky because it was made when HDTV's were new so they did in some ways utilise some features that would give an improved picture on your HD set, but the thing is we have so much better picture now that looking back on it the improvement isn't there to us now when back then you would have noticed it a lot more.
