Whats the story behind that sig? I want to know more about that goat
Guys, I need to know whats going on with that goat and like an arab dude...
Please tell me moar about that goat!
i want to be more like socom 2 hd, socom 2 had the best online for the ps2, but kind of disappointed only 7 maps are aviable when game comes out. and socom 2 had like what 20+ maps when it come out. ahh how much i miss playing socom back thenlolag
I could play all day desert glory, the mixer, cross roads and fish hook... actually, desert glory is my favorite map of all, placing the hostages on the wall -the one that explodes with c4- was so fun...
[QUOTE="ice144"][QUOTE="VoodooHak"]I'm just wondering how it'll distinguish itself from other military shooters out there like GRAW2, Vegas 2, Battlefield BC, or even Frontlines.VoodooHak
Someone hasnt played a Socom game before....it'll distinguish itself fine.
I still have 2 and 3 along with Fire Team Bravo 1 and 2, and Tactical Strike for the PSP. My question is.....what feature(s) will set it apart from the ones I mentioned? And I didn't even mention COD4.
Im goint to paste a post I made over confrontation boards:

Map design was great and Im goint to tell you why.
Each map was designed with just a game mode in mind, that helped zipper to focus on that design; also, the concept was the seals trying to infiltrate in to enemy territory; seals attaking, terrorist defending, thats why was so hard for the seals to win in some maps like sujo, enowapi, death trap, etc. But also that forced players to play tactically and like a team.
Landmarks were fundamendal, everybody knew the fish market, the top of the hostages building, the choke points, were to hide the hostages, etc.
Every fan remember the names of the maps, hiding spots, etc. because all of this was memorable, in games like CoD everymap is the same... just big maps, small maps, actually I dont remember the name of the cod maps...
Balance
Terrorist had better maps and easier objetives, seals had better weapons but harder objetives. Sometimes it felt unbalanced but that was part of the fun, winning as a seas was a great feeling in maps like sujo.
Communication
I think "push to talk" was made like that to save bandwidth, but also helped to use it just when needed, that way players just talked to say important things like "there is a sniper over x part".
Hardware limitations
The funny part was the hardware limitations helped too! the draw distance was limited, that way was harder for the snipers to kill people, in today games like CoD everybody want to snipe... because everybody can.
Third person view
Not everybody can / likes to play in first person, also it is easier to control your character in third person, plus the dualshock was horrible to play in first person. It was true that al lot of the time you could get "ambush" around the corners by other players, but it was part of the fun, also player were more aware of their surroundings.
Lobby system
We all know this, that was the reason because socom had a great community, you know where were your friends and foes playing.
Deaths
If you were killed you needed to wait to the other round, that was great because nobody likes to wait! so everybody was paying attetion, forced team play, forced communication, and all of that helped to play the way it was designed. Being the last one on your team vs 3 or more enemies was an adrenaline rush, you know your friend were watching you, maybe talking about you... was great. Also that time when you were dead helped the community too! I always talket to my dead friends, joking about the game, knowing each other to the point I can recognise my friends by the sound of their voice.
