Seriously... PC did NOTHING for PC gamers in 2009. All the best PC has to offer is also on Xbox and PS3.

Yea sure - PC versions are better (When they work) - But so they should be... PC hardware has advanced 5yrs since Xbox360 Release.

just about every other way you can compare a console ends with the PS3 in last.

Silverbond

LoL - Except for hardware quality, built-in features, fee online services including web-browser and Excellent exclusive games.

The PC.......? :?

Oh yes sorry... PC has more viruses, crashes more often, requires infinately more patches, updates, drivers, re-installations, and has more games not worth playing. So yea PC owns Xbox and PS3 in many ways

PC definitely has better hardware... But the fact that one would be comparing 4-yr old hardware to latest and greatest defies logic.

PC is the only place for internet and online shooters though - or was. And MMOs... Console is still yet to prove it can deliver a WoW or AO.

Fanboys know it, they just won't admit it because it makes their chosen system look bad.

Phoenix534

Absolutely will look better on PC... But it will also need more re-installs, have more freeze ups, and require a reboot every 3hrs on PC.

Yeah, if you're trying to run it on a PC from 2003.

Actually I would hope that if you were running a 2003 PC its OS would be so highly patched and its hardware drivers so refinned that the game would be extremely stable... Graphics would be woeful 4 sure... But it would keep playin and playin ;)

2 hours? Now you're just exaggerating. Patching might take around 10-30 minutes depending on how old the game is, but that should be all. I usually deal with around a half-hour of installation and patching and I'm ready to play.

Phoenix534

True :) On a good day its maybe 30mins... The big game changer for me goes back to just after F.E.A.R was released... I was so excited and desperate to play it... I had a rig all set with everything I needed for perfect experience.

No matter what i did... No matter what patches I installed... F.E.A.R would crash 5-mins into it... OMG it's was so unbelievable.

Took a complete re-image to get F.E.A.R working... No idea why. Never again do I want to endure that.

That i can really relate to. I get so frustrated with all that stuff. But, when the game finally starts, everything's good again.

Phoenix534

Yea man - It's definitely awesomely satisfying once you finally get there... But when you get a new game and you are so excited to play only to get hammered by 2 hours of fixing and patching it is soooo soul destroying.

It kinda is considering you don't have to upgrade every time something new releases. You could upgrade your CPU and GPU every four or five years and a new PSU and Mobo when absolutely necessary. And with the rise of price of consoles, PC will soon be around the same price unless you build a super computer with x3 SLI 395GTX and an i9 six-core.

Phoenix534

You are kinda correct HW isn't so bad... It's the software that finally did it for me.

Dx10 only on Vista... Service packs... DOT.NET patches... Graphics Drivers... Pixel and Vertex Shader versions...

PC games have to accommodate for so many variables and no amount of hardware abstracting can stop the oh so many freezes and crashes that happen with most PC games.

Man - I put up with it for too many years... This is the first console generation (Due to wide acceptance of online console gaming) where I have completely scrapped the PC for gaming. 5 yrs ago I was such a mega PC fan... Now... Don't think Ill ever go back, regardless of the superior visuals.

"The maintenance and expense of PC is highly overexaggerated."

Not when compared to a console...

"Will this title be the ultimate decider as to which system is more powerful?"

Um... an unequivocal NO.

Just like all multi-platform games (More even more so with Crysis)... It will be built for PC, code-4-code migrated to XBox... and then a half-baked port made for PS3 just to pick up a little extra revenue on the side.

Now... If they scrapped XBox and PC and just made it for PS3... It would look better then anything on XBox 360... Ergo U2, KZ2, MGS4...

If you continue to use multiplat games as your justification for choosing a console - XBox360 is without a doubt the Numero-Uno choice because its simply more cost effective to develop that way... It is by no means because "Its more powerful dude"
