@PCsama: I'm very familiar with the hiring process as I'm in the industry myself. Of course they looked at her demo reel and her experience, which was NOT enough to be hired for an AAA project. So my question is: Why hire these people? And even if the animators are bad, surely the direction would attempt to fix it, but it doesn't seem like they have any sort of self awareness. They HAD to know that the game would be recieved like this with animations like that, especially after hearing back from mock reviews...
So actually I take back what I said about greed/impatience, there was definitely a deliberate effort to push this game out the door before it was ready, because there were mistakes made during dev time, and they could have fixed them, but it would have been VERY costly (probably not worth it).
@PCsama: The reason this game is shit is because they let a subpar bioware subsidiary work on it, more specifically, the lead facial animator absolutely whiffed it and has been fired. Not sure what their thought process was when hiring her in the first place, though.
This has nothing to do with greed or impatience, EA & Bioware just hired the wrong people.
"People still read novels, watched movies, listened to music. The fact most of my friends are abandoning games makes me feel sad," he said at the time. "How can I help video games not just be for kids, and respected from people of all ages and genders?"
Good point. This industry has rarely proven itself as an "educational" creative platform like those other art forms. I think the issue-- if you want to call it an issue that is-- is that games are still just a way to deal with compulsion in a sandbox environment, boredom, lack of purpose etc. Most gamers play games to have fun and not to grow as people (because there aren't many games that offer that yet). I look forward to thatnextgame!
@sellingthings: I guess you're right. I just had a bad experience once when I got a 30 euro case and the front usb slots had issues, and the whole case was electric to the touch, overall pretty fucked up, but it lasted 4 years anyways!
Go cheap on everything (within reason, as in don't buy a shitty PSU or a shitty case) except gpu. I think it's best to get the minimum in all aspects without bottlenecking a good gpu e.g a gtx 1070.
