Dear, Laura Parker, If you had any clue, or knowledge regarding Greek mytholgy you would in fact know that the Ancient Greeks revered their women, especially due to the 'Great Goddess' or 'Great Mother' theory, where women were esteemed higher than men in general, and were honoured and worshipped. For example, Ge, the Great female Titan, Athena, Aphrodite, Hera, etc, there is no need for me to go on. In nearly ALL ancient cultures, the Great Goddess/Mother was one of the most respected figures, if not the most, and Ancient Greece was no different. Therefore, it would be nice if you actually did some research about the women in Ancient Greece before bandying about rubbish that simply is NOT true. If you doubt my argument, go and read some Joseph Campbell. Women in Ancient Greece were equals to the men, if not held in higher regard, ie, the Amazons. So, this article shows that the Westernisation of Greek Myth is in fact, true in that the West has chopped and changed our myths to suit themselves, dumbing them down and perhaps fabricating lies. Where else would you have gotten the idea that Ancient Greek women were basically treated like animals? This is simply not true; women were the lifeblood of the ancient world. Go and read a book like the Great Mother. Or Campbell, as I mentioned earlier.
