I spent 45 minutes writing this, and no one gave it the time of day, so here it is again.
It's strange how this all happened so fast.
With many other things in my life, I barely have time to go on Gamespot anymore. I used it in JR. High to vent about me getting picked on at school, and I'd write reviews and strategy guides to help let out some of the stress that I'd had. I'd made some friends, and I became very respected in all of the unions I'd been in. Mainly, I did work for the GTA Legends union during the time I had a lung infection, and could barely stand up and walk out of the computer room.
It just seemed like such a happy place. Even once High School started, I'd drop in and say hello, and tell everyone where I'd been for the past few months. It just seemed so perfect.
Then, last night, I decided to see what was up on the OT Forum, because there's always crazy crap going on, like guys buring ****s with hot butter, and just absolute random stuff that brings a smile to your face each and every time you click on a thread.
But, there was only one active thread. This one. And it had 1500 posts.
I learned a few years ago that moods are chemicals produced by the brain. This is how most street drugs work. They release this chemical all at once, so you feel amazing, but once you use it up, it's gone. This is why meth heads are always looking for the "First Time" feeling, but they can't get it because all of that paticular chemical is gone from their body... Weird, but yes, it's true. I just hope it works the same way as depression. Hopefully, all of this sadness we experienceafter Jeff getting fired goes away.
It's strange how one person getting fired from a website can change so much, and bring so many DIFFERENT people together. We may hate each other outside of our computer room, but we are all sad together because one man can no longer do the thing he loves with the people he loves.
It just seems like it won't end. One of the staff members put it best. It's like being in a dream in which you can't wake up. This is really happening, and it's all so totally *****d up. It would be like Don Cherry suddenly leaving hockey to "settle down". Sure, it may not be as similar as Jeff's situation, butit just makes you go "WTF, can I restart the day? This isn't supposed to happen."
My parents and teachers have always told me that voicing your opinion can get you into trouble. I did this a few times in elementary, and ended up making a few teachers cry, as well as getting suspended a few times. I always thought, "well, that's BS... they need to know my opinion because I have a good one! They're just actingretarded because they know I'm right."
We will never learn what really happened because this scenario is just too bizarre. These things don't happen everyday.
There is going to be a cover-up, and once GS releases it, the site will become a ghost-town. It'll be like "Well, we know what happened, and now they tried to lie to us. Off to INSERT NAME OF OTHER GAMING SITE HERE."
This "Let's pay to give the gamea higher rating" definately did not happen here before. Most games advertised extensively here on the site, such as Burnout Revenge and Madden 08, are actually good games. Say what you will (about the previously mentioned games), but no matter how much you try and sugarcoat it, Kane & Lynch is terrible. It just happened that they paid CNET a ton of money to advertise the game. Knowing the other writers on this web site, as well as how they reacted to this situation, there is no way this could have happened in the past. No Way.
This site will die a slow death, and when the coverup is released, everyone will leave. It's just going to happen. CNET and GS aren't ignoring this. In fact, many elite CNET people may be reading this topic right now, and they might be forming a coverup already. Watch.
Jeff was just doing his job. The purpose of reviewing games is to give an honest opinion, and if Jeff doesn't like the game, he has a right to say why. A lot of people might not agree with his reviews, but no matter where you stand on Jeff as a reviewer, everyone agrees that he was treated unfairly. You can't just fire someone because they have an opinion you don't like. This is part of the WCB. Can't just go around firing people because you don't like the way they think. Religion is treated the same way. You can't fire a worker because they like god and you like allah. Yes, it's the same thing, I know, but I'm just trying to make a point, and there were a few times I started to quiver while writing this. I'm tired, and I want to go to bed.
Jeff is reading this. Everyone is reading this. It got more attention than the HillaryClinton thingie. He knows that we are fighting for him, but he also knows that there's nothing we can do. it's out of our hands. I bet you he'd like to thank us all for the support, and in a secret and discreteway, he probably will.
We miss you Jeff! You've changed all of our lives, and we hope you dropus a line sometime!
