[QUOTE="JustPlainLucas"]Welp, I haven't heard from that guy who started the Save Jeff union, so I renamed my old Web Comic union, Save Jeff Gertsmann Union. I'm going to start sending out the invites, so if you haven't PMed me for one, do so now.JustPlainLucas

Aww, the Web Comic Union is no more? Shucks, that's terrible.

Meh... I never did anything with it, so...

Are you being honest?

You know that they don't like honesty at Gamespot!

You're fired!!!

[QUOTE="dgbiker1"]Has it crossed anyone's mind that maybe he was just fired for writing ****ty reviews?Dreams-Visions
Not considering the information that ahs come out.

He's created most of the stuff on the site as we know it and he's been working for the site for 11 years.

Obviously, he's doing something right.

Or actually, he was

At this point, it's best if Gamespot goes the way of the dodo. Greg, Rich, Carrie, and Jeff are all gone, and the other staffers have to live with Cnet breathing down their neaks. We cannot expect honest opinions anymore. The best we can hope for is the death of Gamespot and the relocation of its staffers to places where they can actually say what they think.hero25

Nope. They'll all be split up all over the web, and some will get out of the industry entirely.

If I may re-add this to the thread:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/alleged-gamespot-employee-spills-guts-on-valleywag-328797.php

Having read that there's no question in my mind that the dude is legit.

His description of how publishers manipulate review timing is spot on.

[QUOTE=""]Over the last year there has been an increasing amount of pressure to allow the advertising teams to have more of a say in the editorial process; we've started having to give our sales team heads-ups when a game is getting a low score, for instance, so that they can let the advertisers know that before a review goes up. Other publishers have started giving us notes involving when our reviews can go up; if a game's getting a 9 or above, it can go up early; if not, it'll have to wait until after the game is on the shelves.ironcreed

Yep, that is what convinced me that he is on the level. And we wonder why reviews are late sometimes here. Well....now we know. He is definitely an anonymous reviewer here who is fearing for his job. The fact that others are leaving just to prove a point amidst the silence that has been imposed uopn them from 'the powers that be' is statement of the truth of all this in and of itself as well.

Nah, it's gotta be someone high up on the GS totem pole. The writing is almost Ek-ish.

I say it's Brian Ekberg. He's always very proffesional when writing ANYTHING.

I think that Jeff has a case against CNET and Eidos to be honest. He could come out of this with a libel suit and a hefty lawsuit that should net him a great deal of money.MadExponent

If I were jeff, I wouldn't want money.

I'd want a nice BBQ, and then the next day, everything is back the way it was before theKane & Lynch review got released.

We all want jeff and greg back at gamespot. Sadly, it will never happen, and I'm enjoying myself watch the site die a painful and slow death.

I spent 45 minutes writing this, and no one gave it the time of day, so here it is again.

It's strange how this all happened so fast.

With many other things in my life, I barely have time to go on Gamespot anymore. I used it in JR. High to vent about me getting picked on at school, and I'd write reviews and strategy guides to help let out some of the stress that I'd had. I'd made some friends, and I became very respected in all of the unions I'd been in. Mainly, I did work for the GTA Legends union during the time I had a lung infection, and could barely stand up and walk out of the computer room.

It just seemed like such a happy place. Even once High School started, I'd drop in and say hello, and tell everyone where I'd been for the past few months. It just seemed so perfect.

Then, last night, I decided to see what was up on the OT Forum, because there's always crazy crap going on, like guys buring ****s with hot butter, and just absolute random stuff that brings a smile to your face each and every time you click on a thread.

But, there was only one active thread. This one. And it had 1500 posts.

I learned a few years ago that moods are chemicals produced by the brain. This is how most street drugs work. They release this chemical all at once, so you feel amazing, but once you use it up, it's gone. This is why meth heads are always looking for the "First Time" feeling, but they can't get it because all of that paticular chemical is gone from their body... Weird, but yes, it's true. I just hope it works the same way as depression. Hopefully, all of this sadness we experienceafter Jeff getting fired goes away.

It's strange how one person getting fired from a website can change so much, and bring so many DIFFERENT people together. We may hate each other outside of our computer room, but we are all sad together because one man can no longer do the thing he loves with the people he loves.

It just seems like it won't end. One of the staff members put it best. It's like being in a dream in which you can't wake up. This is really happening, and it's all so totally *****d up. It would be like Don Cherry suddenly leaving hockey to "settle down". Sure, it may not be as similar as Jeff's situation, butit just makes you go "WTF, can I restart the day? This isn't supposed to happen."

My parents and teachers have always told me that voicing your opinion can get you into trouble. I did this a few times in elementary, and ended up making a few teachers cry, as well as getting suspended a few times. I always thought, "well, that's BS... they need to know my opinion because I have a good one! They're just actingretarded because they know I'm right."

We will never learn what really happened because this scenario is just too bizarre. These things don't happen everyday.

There is going to be a cover-up, and once GS releases it, the site will become a ghost-town. It'll be like "Well, we know what happened, and now they tried to lie to us. Off to INSERT NAME OF OTHER GAMING SITE HERE."

This "Let's pay to give the gamea higher rating" definately did not happen here before. Most games advertised extensively here on the site, such as Burnout Revenge and Madden 08, are actually good games. Say what you will (about the previously mentioned games), but no matter how much you try and sugarcoat it, Kane & Lynch is terrible. It just happened that they paid CNET a ton of money to advertise the game. Knowing the other writers on this web site, as well as how they reacted to this situation, there is no way this could have happened in the past. No Way.

This site will die a slow death, and when the coverup is released, everyone will leave. It's just going to happen. CNET and GS aren't ignoring this. In fact, many elite CNET people may be reading this topic right now, and they might be forming a coverup already. Watch.

Jeff was just doing his job. The purpose of reviewing games is to give an honest opinion, and if Jeff doesn't like the game, he has a right to say why. A lot of people might not agree with his reviews, but no matter where you stand on Jeff as a reviewer, everyone agrees that he was treated unfairly. You can't just fire someone because they have an opinion you don't like. This is part of the WCB. Can't just go around firing people because you don't like the way they think. Religion is treated the same way. You can't fire a worker because they like god and you like allah. Yes, it's the same thing, I know, but I'm just trying to make a point, and there were a few times I started to quiver while writing this. I'm tired, and I want to go to bed.

Jeff is reading this. Everyone is reading this. It got more attention than the HillaryClinton thingie. He knows that we are fighting for him, but he also knows that there's nothing we can do. it's out of our hands. I bet you he'd like to thank us all for the support, and in a secret and discreteway, he probably will.

We miss you Jeff! You've changed all of our lives, and we hope you dropus a line sometime!
