Halo 3 Disk Unreadable

Apparently my Xbox 360 as scratched my Halo 3 disk to the point where it is unreadable. I already took it to a place to have it resurfaced and it did nothing to help. I'll probably just ask my family to get me a new copy for Christmas. Until then you won't see me on Halo 3 anytime soon unless I'm borrowing a copy from someone else. I'm not standing up my console anymore.

Call of Duty 4 First Impressions

I finally managed to get a copy of Call of Duty 4 today and I've played it for about 3 hours, only on the campaign because I haven't finished it yet, but it is really awesome. The part I've liked the most about it is that the campaign is really varied, it cought me by surprise but it is really nice to see all of the variation. So far my favorite mission has to be when you are the gunner on a C-130 and you get to rain down hell on your enemies. The sound and graphics in the game are both really awesome, however some of the sound feels as if it has been recycled from the previous editions. To sum it up, I'm liking this game a lot right now and if I were to review it now I would give it a score between 9.0 and 9.5. I still got much to play though.

Lineup of Games I'm Going to Get

Is it just me, or does November always seem to be a month full of popular game releases? That being said here's what I am getting in the next few weeks (on their release date). Nov 5. CoD4 (X360) Nov 6. FEAR Perseus Mandate (PC) Nov 13. Soldier of Fortune: Payback (X360) There are several other games that I have kept my eye on, but I'm willing to wait a bit before getting them. I only get a game the day it comes out if I really want it, which is the case with these 3.

*UPDATE* 11/8/07

Apparently being a gamer in the state of Michigan sucks. Not one place I've gone to has had a copy of CoD4 and PM which is really frustrating to me.

Halo 3

Right now this is all I've been able to play, and I'm talking about the multilayer. Even though its a lot like Halo 2, its a lot more polished and is really addictive to play. If anyone want to add me to their friends list my gamer tag is Mach Force 64.

Bought a 360

I finally won an auction for a Xbox 360 on ebay today. I payed $290 for a premium edition, 1 extra controller, and a game. I'm expecting to get it sometime this weekend.

Beaver Island

Those of you who are from the midwest might know where Beaver Island is, but for those of you who don't know its in the northern part of Lake Michigan. The college I go to takes a group of about 40 people (only those who have a major in science/technology) on a ferry ride to their biological station on the island for a weekend trip. This year I went on this trip. Friday We left the campus around 10:00 am and drove for about 2 and 1/2 hours to the coastal city where the ferry will pick us up. We arrived there around 12:30 pm and had until 1:30 to eat lunch. A group of my friends and I went to a Subway and got some subs there; I only got a six inch sub and was soon grateful for that later on. We boarded the ferry around 1:30 pm and it departed around 2:00 pm and the ride was scheduled to be around 2 and 1/2 hours mostly due to the fact that we were driving into a headwind. The worst part of it was that we would be sailing through 8-12 foot waves. This ferry was a good sized ferry that could carry a couple of semi trucks, but we were tossed around like a bath toy on on the water. It became vomit city simply because over half of the people on board got motion sickness. We gladly arrived at the island around 4:30 pm and drove to the biological station and had dinner there at 6:00 pm. There was a introductory program scheduled at 7:00 pm but their wireless internet wasn't working so we skipped that and for the most part all of us there just lounged around and socialized. I went to bed around 12:00 am. Saturday Since this was an island they did not have much to heat the facility so I woke up feeling very cold. We had breakfeast at 8:00 am and from 9:30 am to around 12:00 pm we all split up and did various activities on the island which we got to choose. I chose to first do a small seminar on GPS navigation and then later chose to participate on a presentation on juggling, simply because one of our professors has juggled his entire life as a hobby. At 12:00 pm we had lunch and after that we were given a tour around the island which lasted until around 5:00 pm. We were given a history of the island and stopped at various locations. I enjoyed the scenery there more than anything else and I really could care less about the island's history. Because I just simply don't care about who found the island. We had dinner at 6:00 pm and at 8:00 pm we had an activity called a Shake and Chase. Earlier that day some chipmunk traps were set up and when we took the traps for the event we had caught about 6 chipmunks but kept 4 because that's all we needed. Then we covered the chipmunk with a colored powder (non-toxic to the animal of course) and set him free, which we did for all 4 of them. We split up into 4 groups and were given blacklights and had to track where the chipmunk went by shining the blacklight on the various plants and trees. So wherever the animal touched powder would be left behind. The objective was to track it to it's burrow, and whoever did that first their team won. I was on the winning team. For the rest of the night we did star watching and they had a telescope on the beach that could magnify up to 20 times (I don't know if thats really good or not.) I had never seen so many stars during the night than when I did that night. It was just beutiful. I went to bed around 11:00 pm because I was tired and did not get much sleep the night before. Sunday I woke up feeling very cold again, but felt rested. We had breakfest at 8:00 am again and after breakfest we packed up our belongings. We left the place at 10:00 am and arrived at the port around 10:30 am. We boarded the ferry around 11:00 am and it departed around 11:30 am. This ride went way smoother; smooth enough that almost everybody slept during the ride, and it felt to go by quicker (I think the fact that I was able to sleep through it had something to do with it.) We arrived at the other port around 1:30 pm and left that city around 2:00 pm. We arrived on campus around 4:30 pm and I was back in my dorm room before 5:00 pm. There's no place like home.
