100% agree with this. You think that Steam, Live, PSN etc are gonna be around forever or even for the next 10 years for that matter? I don't. Once Sony and Microsoft decide to leave the gaming market you think they'll keep their servers up? Anything you deleted to clear up space is gone for good at that point. Same with Steam. I still buy cds for that same reason. Once Itunes is gone (that's just a matter of time) kiss your music goodbye. I'd much rather have physical copies. Unless you buy and delete game left and right and don't care, (which at that point is just a waste of money IMO) you're not gonna be able to keep your DDs. Even on you HDD. That'll be sold or tank or whatever. Not to mention the fact you can get some of your money back through sales, especially older and rarer RPGs that go for $100+, but seams like that's gonna be coming to an end too.Physical copies, You never really own something thats digital. I've talked about this so many times before...I hate DD. In the future you may never be able to play your old games or acquire more games because the services will be gone. I mean I understand it can be convinient but your have to understand the consequences.
I mean I still buy N64 games imagine if they were only DD back then? Sure you can download some of the games on the Virtual Console like 20 of them. None of the awesome Rare games are on the VC though like Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64.

For the most part I do agree with what you're saying, but sometimes it's nice to give an opinion on something where you genuinely don't get the hype. Like 1 game in a series not the whole series per se. Previously I stated I wasn't a fan of Skyrim but am a big Elder Scrolls fan have been since Daggerfall, I doubt a lot have even heard of Daggerfall since Morrowind is what catapulted Elder Scrolls into the mainstream. I respect the work that goes into it I just didn't find it to be more than what Oblivion had to offer. A lot of games that have been mentioned should be respected. Gears I found to be an amazing series, technically it was solid; graphics, gameplay, story, great mp and co-op and not glitchy. IMO it was flawless. To hate a series like that or say it's over hyped is just being pretentious or you just don't like that style of game. Where as games like Skyrim and GTA lV are flawed games and can be tedious and unoriginal compared to other games in the series. These types of threads are unfortunate because all they accomplish is giving people a forum to bash quality games without putting much thought or critique into the criticism.
What many fail to grasp is that you can still respect a game without actually enjoying it on a personal level. You may find a game like Gears of War to be something wholly unappealing but that does nothing to negate that Gears is –objectively – an incredibly well made game from a technical and mechanical standpoint.
Example: I find most JRPG's to be unbearably dull but I would never unzip my fly and piss on the genre or specific, well-loved games merely because these titles don't interest me personally. That's egotism rooted in the narcissistic belief that what I don't personally enjoy must be lacking.
The overwhelming majority of titles listed here are objectively very good or even great.
To dismiss that outright and let pure subjectivism take over is a mistake.
If you can't understand at some level why games like Skyrim, Gears, GTA, Portal, etc. are universally praised then you've got the problem, not the game.
