I'm in a similar boat with my 2500k. I upgraded to a 1080gtx and an SSD last year but it's been too long. Most games runs fine, but it's showing its age for sure.

Been tempted in picking up one of those new i5-8600's.

Old head here. Started back in the 80's with old school DOS games and just never stopped lol, even now in my 40's. My Pops used to take my brother & I to CompUSA here in Philly, and we'd get all excited to check out the PC Gaming section. That hooked me.

To me, this is the most nostalgic period of my life, but loved the mid to late 90's in PC Gaming probably the most. Between all of ID Software's games including Quake Team Fortress to Half Life, I was in heaven.

Played consoles too since the early 80's, and still do, but the PC just always stuck as my number one platform that I enjoyed to most.

@bluephoenix81: Honestly, I just want the Squadron 42 Single Player portion of the game. Now that they are releasing in chapters, hopefully they don't take years to come out...

Been much worse in the U.S. since the turn of the Century. In the 1980's and 1990's it was the overall best place to live. But the page has turned.

Not true for a lot of Cities in America. NYC & Philadelphia are far nicer cities to live in compared to the 1980's. All depends on where you live really. Living in today's time will always be better just for the medical advancement alone, even though Healthcare access blows in the US.

@UssjTrunks: Glad you made this thread. Just logged onto Newegg and a 1080 Founders is going for $1200......wtf....

This is at the very least killing the custom gaming PC market. I was about to upgrade, but not anymore. I wonder how many gamers were planning on buying or upgrading at this time that simply won't?

Also, what incentive is their for Nvidia or AMD to come out with the next Generation when all of their stock is instantly selling out at a decent clip and profit? At these sales, there's no point. Unless they ramp up production significantly, and I don't see any evidence of this being reported, we are in for a long stretch of very high prices. Super bummed to be honest.

@tryit: Elite has a Single player story campaign in the likes of SC that has been shown recently? I didn't think Elite came anywhere near as close to a SP campaign being touted in SC. MMO/Multiplayer, yes.

I don't really care about the open world, mmo aspect. All I wanted was an awesome, well written single player campaign in the vein of games such as freespace 2 and/or freelancer.

Haven't been following this game for a while. I'll pay more attention to it once it is actually out and gotten some reviews.

Exactly, same here. All I wanted was that Squadron 42 campaign. I'm really starving for a single player Space game with a half decent story and characters. Basically anything that tugs on that Wing Commander nostalgia.

I lost a lot of excitement in following SC over the past 2 years, just constant feature creep in what feels like a series of chaotic development. It's almost stressful following SC knowing what it has become. There is just no way that ship is being run properly with that large of a budget and so many creative types at the helm.

I would be fine getting just the SP at this point, even if the MMO portion falls apart.

Bluesnews.com is great for PC Gaming coverage, and as many others have said, Rock Paper Shotgun.

That was a joke. No Valve, no Half Life for me. CD Projekt RED recently cancelled THEY which was inspired from Half Life 2, and it won't be released. ND should make Crash Bandicoot.

Agreed. As much as I want HL 3, without Valve as the Developer, it just wouldn't be the same.

I remember years back, during CGW Radio/GFW Radio on 1up, Shawn Elliot and I believe the writer from ND got into a slightly heated debate. Shawn (like myself and I think most HL fans) is a huge fan of the way Valve tells stories, by keeping you in character. ND on the other hand, enjoys long drawn-out cutscenes to tell their stories, which is completely opposite of the way HL has always been done as a game.

ND is fantastic and I enjoy their stuff, but I would't want their style in my HL.

I enjoyed playing the beta, but not sure if this is something I will enjoy after a month or 2. Deinfately still has some kinks that need to be worked out. Lots of bugged quests too that will most likely still be an issue in a month. For sure, I would play to see the storylines but that's about it.

Have to be honest, not too impressed with other MMO's I've played in beta that are coming out this year either. I keep going back to F2P Neverwinter, which I have tons of fun with.
