The PS3 being more powerful is far from meaningless: there are first party games on PS3 that are simply not possible on 360. Comparing hardware is never "meaningless" since in order for gaming to move forward you need more memory and processing power and who has the more of those is simply going to bring gaming forward more than the others.

This sounds like yet another piece of damage control to me. You don't hear Sony saying "the cloud is pointless" do you?

I think you will find in all honesty it is pretty meaningless due to the fact that if processing power and memory is what drives gaming forward then you would find most developers would just work with pc being as its 1) more powerful than all consoles. and 2) easier to develope for since the games are all developed on pc's in first place. Clearly though this isnt totally accurate as both consoles have pushed innovation in gaming over the years and still are, even though they have been out of date for about 4 years with an average pc.

While it's true memory and cpu power etc can enhance a game, especially through visual fidelity, the real advancement of gaming comes from pushing ideas and creativity which ultimately is more a product of efficiency than raw power.
