@Taffy872 @mexicangordo What are you talking about? The DS had a huge hybrid of both hardcore and casual games. I'm sorry but games like Brainage and Nintendogs does not define a DS system to me, games like 999, hotel dusk, and TwewY do. But to someone else, games like Brainage and Nintendogs are what made the DS great. Its diversity. While the Wii targeted a completely un-tapped audience but still brought some fresh experiences. Again, I don't consider a Wii a "just dance machine." Games like Wario Ware Smooth moves, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Xenoblade are what made the system great for me.

Kinect on the other hand is literally a dance central box that is used more for navigating a browser than it is to enhance a gaming experience. That to me, screams "casual" more so than Nintendo's original Wii.

Nintendo does both (make new Ip's and re-use old ones), however according to the video, they want old IP's revamped and new ones. That's were my "pretentious" comment came from earlier. Nintendo does those things all the time and in the video Tom clearly states, " I feel like they don't make games that cater to me," and "Nintendo games are stuck in Nostalgia, but these games are great." We have hardly heard any new games for the WiiU so its not the best example but on Nintendo's eshop they have tons of great new IP's. Last gen or even a few years ago they had lots of great new IP's as well including refreshing old ones like Wario.

The main point I was addressing is that modern Nintendo can never satisfy what the gaming media wants or expects from them because of past games and innovations. My last comment regarding nostalgia in my earlier post also addressed that.

Sweet lord what a pretentious video. I am not saying that they are pretentious people but get real, I dont get Tom. I just don't, I dont see why Nintendo, in the eyes of journalist, can never do the right thing. If they do, its considered a fluke, or imperfect. According to them they "don't take risk, rehash, left the old school gamer behind, are redundant, close minded..." list goes on and on. I see some of those points for sure but Nintendo takes the most risk out of ANY of the big three console makers.

Its been only 6 1/2 years since the Wii launched, a system that everyone expected to fail. DS is another system that was similar, yet there were so many new IP ideas from Nintendo, and refreshed old franchises like Wario Ware, or Donkey Kong. Yet its never enough for people. On top of that, those two systems were dramatically different from anything else at the time. Now one generation later, Nintendo is still that rehash company? I am sorry but Sony made Move and MS made Kinect in response to Nintendo...Yet Nintendo is clearly the non-innovative game maker.

Speaking of MS, they continue to abandon their hardcore crowd, and make very stale games for kinect but face no outcry from journalist. I am tired of so much passive aggressive attitude towards this modern Nintendo. "The games are great but I want something new," comments like that from journalism ride more on nostalgia (holding the old as perfect) more so than Nintendo's view on their own games.

Nintendo is not stuck in nostalgia, they are stuck at re-inventing the wheel every freakin time. They are the only gaming company to do so.
