Farewell GameSpot and to everyone I know

by on

I know I made a blog a few months on how there's a chance that I might not come back. Well this time, I mean it. I am not coming to GS anymore. You may have heard these already, but this site isn't what it used to anymore. Like alot of GS veterans who were upset with the new ToU, it made the forums sink even lower in terms of intellectual discussions. I remember how active this site used to be back when I first entered (which was 2004-2005), but now the main forums just seem....bleh. Quick history about myself:

  • Discussions used to be fun in the main forums during the 6th generation of video gaming (that is, during the PS2, Xbox, and GC era). Things kind of went slippy during 7th generation but it wasn't too bad.
  • Unions. Oh man, these were the best things about GS. I fondly remember having fun, especially the Nintendo Dream union. There's nothing more better than being with my favorite users: kansasdude2009, Willy105, nintendofreak_2, darkspineslayer, and LegendofNerd. :D Then things started to die out. :( Is it me, or else union just slowing fading away? They don't seem to be as popular as they used to be.
  • System Wars. Oh man, where do I begin here? Why did I ever waste my time there? I mean, okay, maybe it was funny in my younger teens, the place got more boring over time mainly due how it strict it got until last year's ToU change. I thought it would bring funnier discussions in the place. How silly of me. :roll

So yeah, most of my time here in GS was great, until last year where I started losing motivation to even login here. This isn't the same that I knew. Obviously things change, change needs not always be negative which is what happened here. It's funny too, because I remember being happy ToU change and now I want it reverted. It's just nothing but immature posts even by users older than me. Yeah...:| Other stuff I guess I should mention. I remember the awesome reviewers GS before most of them left. The glitches in GS, oh man, never a time when something odd wouldn't happens. I never liked the Off-Topic board as long as I was here. Sorry to anyone who frequents the OT reading this, but I only ever went there when I was extremely bored and would leave in distaste. I kind of think it's worse than SW at times.

So where does that leave me?

Well I have account at TheWiiU.com It's taken some time for me to get used to, but I like the site so far. I still post frequently at GameFAQs. As crazy as it sounds, thanks to the new ToU it makes GFAQs even more mature. Or does it? I dunno. But what I do know is that I travel game forum after game forum to settle a new home if you will. I don't think there's anything left for me in this site.

As far as gaming goes, well the console isn't looking pretty right now. I can only see myself owning a Wii U, but after that, I'm planning to become a PC gamer. Yep, consoles just don't hold it for me anymore. Before I forget, I own a 3DS and it's a great handheld. :) I'm not too sold on the PS4, so I have no plans on getting that in the near future. I'm not the least bit impressed with how Microsoft has been handling the Xbox 360 and I can't see myself getting excited over its next system. The Xbox 360 was my least favorite of the three consoles.

Oh yeah to show that I'll be PC Gaming sometime in the future, I created a Steam account. It's magiciandude1 (yes there's a 1 at the end, someone dared to steal my honor ).

I think that wraps up everything. Don't be offended if I didn't mention your username, you were most likely an awesome user too. ;) In the off-chance that the old ToU is brought back, you may inform and I'll see if it's worth coming back. :P

Well, so long everyone and take care!

Yours truly,

2012 Overview and....Unofficial resignation

by on

Well now that the year has come to close, it's time to reflect what the major events that happened this year, the good and the bad. Let me get the bad of the way: My dog died at the very begining of the year, some very celebrities and famous people died, Hurricane Isaac & Sandy, Sandy Hook, boring year for gaming compared to last year.

Now that I got that out of the way, this has been a much better year for me compared to last year (which I described as one of my worst years in one of my blogs). Better year for Tropical music, movies. Some of the best moments that happened to was the cruise to Central America, which was very great, I got two new dogs to take off in honor of my previous pet, and I had a very good college year. This year, I started off with my new degree, Graphic Design and Multimedia A.S. and passed both of my classes with an A. Really though, despite the recent tragedies, the year was mostly quiet (as far as I know). Nothing really major happened with the exceptions of those I listed above, which just happened in the past month or so.

Now as the part of the title, well, yes, this is my unofficial resignation from GameSpot. In the past few months, I've grown bored and tired of GameSpot's forums, and the just site itself. I wrote a blog about me being bored, but this time, I think I'm done with the site. That doesn't mean I'm leaving permantely, but don't expect me to around much anymore either. The Wii & Wii U forums has been lacking in activity, SW just got even worse (if that's even possible), never liked the OT forums, most of the people who I was cool with have since moved on with GameSpot. I'm hardly impressed with the main site itself, seeing as how late GameSpot can be with their news. I had hoped to stick around until I at least made 10k posts, but I've lost motivation to do so. Nowadays, I spend my time editing on around the TheWiiforums and the 3dsforums (same username for both forums). I frequent GameFAQs as well and I'm thinking starting an account on GiantBomb. So yeah, I'm parting ways with this site. If I don't ever come back again, I just want to say that's been a beautiful and not-so-beautiful years with GameSpot. I've been a member since 2004, but I didn't get active in the forums until 2005. How times have changed. Well take care guys, and have a safe and Happy Holidays.

Bored of GameSpot

by on

I'm starting to get bored of GameSpot. It seems nothing interesting happens here anymore, not even the forums. I'm thinking of moving somewhere else but I don't know of any better gaming forums.

God I love JRPGs

by on

Lately, I've been spending most of my gaming time with JRPs specifically the Tales game. As of this blog, I'm playing Tales of Vesperia and think it's a pretty good game although I perfer Symphonia and Abyss more. After completing Vesperia, I plan on getting Tales of Graces F next for the PS3. Aside from Tales, I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy games and have played and enjoyed every post-VI Final Fantasy except XI which I haven't played and probably won't in the forseeable future because of it being a MMO. Shamefully, I have not played any FF games before FFVII and I want to do so in the future. And then there's Chrono Trigger man was that game amazing. I'm writing this blog to explore more into the JRPG market not only for popular JRPG games, but also obsure hidden games (only localized though). So I'm putting a list of JRPGs I want to play in the future.

Here's the list:

  • Xenoblade
  • Tales of Graces F
  • The Last Story
  • All pre-FFVII games
  • Phantasy Star games
  • Sakura Wars for the Wii
  • Golden Sun series
  • Secret of Mana
  • Skies of Arcadia

Also considering the Shining Force (the older ones) since it was developed by Camelot.

I'm open to any suggestion but the game has to localized as I have no plans of importing any games

The Top 3 3rd Party characters I would like to see in the next Smash Bros. game

by on

Since I haven't made a blog in a long time, I just decided to make a blog about the top 3 third party characters I would like to see for the upcoming Smash Bros. game for the upcoming Smash Bros. This post assumes that Snake and Sonic will be returning in the next game (I honestly do not want any character to be cut from Brawl). So here they are:

1)

Mega Man

Mega Man.

He was the only character that I wanted to see in Brawl that didn't appear. He's already got a moveset from the Marvel vs. Capcom games (at least the first two anyway.....). Doesn't even have to be the original Mega Man, I'd be cool with X (as pictured above) or Volnutt.

2.

Warrior of Light

Any Pre-VII Final Fantasy character

I just want to see a FF character in the game. More specifically, a FF character before Final Fantasy VII which would be either Warrior of Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil, Bartz, or Terra. The movesets for one of these characters would be similiar to Dissidia FF.

3.

Ryu from Ninja Gaiden

Ryu Hayabusa

Lately, Nintendo and Tecmo have been a really good terms. Beginning with their collaboration on Metroid Other M, to Samus making a cameo in Dead or Alive Dimensions, to Zero Suit Samus & Link costumes available in Dynasty Warrior VS for 3DS, and of course Ninja Gaiden III coming out for the Wii U. Ninja Gaiden was a classic NES game so why not?

So those are my top three characters I want to see in the next Smash Bros game.

Thoughts or ideas on who you want to see?

As for Nintendo characters, I do not care who they put in as long as they don't take anybody from Brawl and maybe put back Mewtwo.

Terrible year (for me anyways) - 2011

by on
This has been one of the worst, if not, the worst year for me. I don't want to bring up all the details because I'm not feeling down anymore. Long story short: So bad, I almost felt like giving up. I really don't to say everything, but jeez, I haven't been this depressed for a long time. Well, what am I to do? I just next year is better (even if it means it's end of the world, which I don't believe in at all).

SW just got serious *****

by on

November is the month where all hell broke loose in GameSpot:

First a Sonic game gets the same score as a Mario game. Then Skyward Sword became 7elda.5kyward. Now the mods are leaving SW and if you're like me, you've been around since '05 to know what it was like back then. To those who never saw it back.....

Prepare yourself!

2011 Latin Grammy Awards were absolute s***

by on

A few months ago, I wrote a blog on how Latin music was really crappy this year. Now I'll have to set the bar even lower apparently. Because the awards for Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Record of the Year went to one of the bands I can't stand even as a Puerto Rican: Calle 13. But that's not the issue here, the issue here is how dumbfounded I feel about them getting these awards when their latest album and songs didn't even impact the Billboard Latin Albums and Songs chart. So according to the peers at the Latin Grammies, Calle 13 was better than everyone else this year when they won 9 awards! 9! They were the opening performers for the show, for ****'s sake, I did not like the song. I never liked Calle 13 at all and I hardly agree with their viewpoints. But what made me cringe the most was on their acceptance speech when they talked about their songs being "real music". :| I may not be too fond of Don Omar and Pitbull, but at least their new songs are enjoyable in a way. Calle 13's song, "Latinoamerica", was lame and I couldn't care less about the message of the song. There's nothing wrong with making songs about social issues, but that doesn't make it a good song (like "We are the World" for example). So after the whole "real music" acceptance speech, it seems that Calle 13 just lost of respect from other artists. Each time they won an award, only their families clapped them...yeah. :| When the other artists were mentioned in the nomination, they were cheered real loud and Calle 13 was mostly quiet. When other artists were performing, people got up and danced while Calle 13 remained seated. How's that for "real music" huh? When Los Tigres del Norte won the award for "Norteño Album of the Year", they were calling out Paulina Rubio because of her involvement in the album. Guess what? Rene Perez of Calle 13 came up on stage instead. *facepalm* For a group that talk alot about social issues, they certainly have no respect for other artists. Calle 13 aside, the nominations were crap too. First and foremost, Shakira was named person of the year. Nothing against her personally, but I'm not a fan of her music. Still, I could see in her acceptance speech that was sincere about her feelings and she's the kind of person I respect. The awards were too obvious as well. I knew Los Tigres del Norte, Marco Antonio Solis, Tito El Bambino, and Shakira would win. It was painfully obvious because the other nominees are newcomers to field. Another thing I hated was the Tropical field. As if getting awarded for being commercially successful was bad enough, artists that impacted the Tropical charts didn't even get nominated? No Luis Enrique or Jerry Rivera for example. Hell, Romeo Santos didn't even get nominated for anything despite having TWO #1 Latin Songs on the chart and he was one of the perfomers on the awards (his performance with Usher was terrific). Instead, we had HAS BEENS as nominees like Jose Alberto el Canario and freakin' Ruben Blades (I'm talking about decades ago when they were on their peak). One of the nominees was someone who died THREE YEARS AGO. Are you serious? :| Overall, this was the absolute worst year ever for the Latin Grammy Awards. I don't know who these people at the Latin Grammies were thinking when they selected these awards. I knew it was going to be bad when I saw the nominations, but I didn't it could sink this low. I think I am done with them that's for sure and so will their ratings.

Batman and...Pokemon?

by on

So I was taking a trip down memory lane when I was looking up promos from the Kids Wb. Then I came across two promo crossovers with Batman and Pokemon. I thought it might hilarious and nostalgic to show bring it up.

Pokemon: So popular back in the day, even the ****ing the Dark Knight knows about it.
