Vikings peaked after Ragnar's arc ended. Ratings, viewership, and the writing all had a steep decline. They announced season 6 as the final season due to fear of cancellation if they didn't wrap it up. No one talked about the finale; it was so bad it went out quieter than a silent fart. And Netflix greenlights and funds a sequel? No wonder they are losing money.

Still not sure why they didn't get Jensen Ackles to play Nathan Drake. He would have been much cheaper and fits the role. I haven't watched Supernatural but his role as Alec in Dark Angel was similar to Nathan Drake and he pulled it off well.
