So I'm thinking about getting a PS3 (currently own a 360), and I don't want to trade my 360 in, so I'm buying the PS3 straight up. I don't want to spend a ton of money. There's the 250 GB w/ HDMI cable and LittleBigPlanet for $350 (actually $385), and the 120 GB model for $300 ($330) . I don't actually see the point of paying for the 250 version because I could get LittleBigPlanet for probably like $20 and an HDMI cable for almost free online.

So I'm wondering, would I need the 250 GB. Let's say I download like ten to fifteen map packs or DLC a year, as well as about ten demos at a time. And maybe a movie. That wouldn't even come close, right? I mean, for the 360 you HAVE to install games to avoid RRoD so you need the 250 GB, but with the PS3 what do you actually use it for? I heard you actually have to install PS3 games too? Why is that, and how much memory would that take?

It depends what you will be using it for, if it's just gaming then probably not. Simply because you can delete game data when you've finished with a game, your trophy info is obviously kept on the system. I only have an 80GB system and I play a lot of games, but never more than 4 or 5 at one time so it's no problem. I also don't download movies, which is something that can potentially take up a lot of space. Although you can just do what my mate does, download films, transfer them to the PS3(they run smoother this way) and then delete them after watching.

I will just add as well that there are different styles of shooters on the PS3. Now I'm certainly not an MW2 'hater', I had many hours of fun gameplay with it, both on and offline. However I've grown weary of it and I have to say, personally, I prefer Battlefield by far. It's far more tactical, and far more team orientated. Modern Warfare 2 does look very good, and the actual close combat is very smooth and probably second to none. But whenever I play it now it just feels like a bunch of players rushing about trying to notch as many individual kills as possible. People run about with sniper rifles and 'quick scope', or shotguns and grenades etc. Granted there is still a lot of skill in becoming a top player at MW, but I just prefer the tactical and team approach in Battlefield and carefully choosing different classes and helping team mates out etc. They are both excellent games though, as is Killzone - however I didn't play much K2 online so I can't comment too much on that. My advice is to try them all, and give them all a fair chance. There is nothing worse than MW players who just regard all other FPS games as bad, or vice versa with BC or K2. There are so many good FPS games on the PS3, make the most of them all :-)

I always preferred PES because of the gameplay. I found FIFA had the flashy looks and license, but I just never felt like it was a realistic simulator when playing matches. However FIFA 2010 especially was very different. You had to string together neat passing moves to bring success, whilst Pro Ev 10 was not flowing at all, and still had the problem that meant you simply run diagonally one way, and when a defender approaches simply turn diagonally the other way - and if you do this with a quality player it is very easy to skin players without even pulling off any skill moves. The 360 movement for PES 11 and the online master league mode, as well as the new weighted passing system, could mean I go back to this series though. Although FIFA looks like it has some nice additions too, with the different player personalities and styles. I feel it will be a good year for football games :-)

I know we are in an era where video game adaptations of blockbuster movies are very common, and quite often very disappointing. But are there any movies that you'd really like to see adapted into a game? If so, then what sort of genre, style and any particular developers you would prefer to be involved? And vice versa, any games that you think would make excellent movie adaptations - and again if you could choose, what directors, actors and genre(if it isn't obvious) would you go with? In terms of movies being adapted into games, personally I'd quite like to see District 9. Probably in a first person shooter style, with some interesting alien upgrades and weaponry. Possibly a similar system to Singularity where you can obtain alien technology and upgrade weapons etc. A decent script too, starting off as a human fighting the aliens and then maybe a twist and having to change allegiances, similar to the movie, and maybe even a choice whether you want to or not? Maybe an Activision/Infinity Ward combination like MW2, although I don't claim to know a whole lot about the different developers. Games that would make good movies? I would STILL love to see a Metal Gear Solid adaptation, and I can't believe in all these years of playing the games that they haven't developed one. I'd like to see Kurt Russell in the lead as Snake, similar to his Snake role in Escape from New York and LA. My preference as director would have to be either Chris Nolan or James Cameron, leaning towards Nolan on more recent work. With an epic Hans Zimmer soundtrack to accompany the visuals! There are plenty more I could list(Uncharted The Movie?), but rather than do so I'd like to know what everyone else thinks? (I did check the last few pages of threads and couldn't find a similar discussion, although I wouldn't be surprised if it has been done before)

Well there is the obvious, and inevitable, PS3 follow ups I'm looking forward to - Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Uncharted. I'd also like to see a new Resident Evil, but one that leans towards the original style of RE. I loved Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Nemesis - really wasn't keen on Resident Evil 5 though. Granted I can see why many people didn't like the awkward, changing camera angles and constantly going back and forth in the earlier installments, but personally I loved them. Maybe if they developed something closer to the likes of Uncharted then it might work? More of a fixed camera, and with puzzles and added elements - but less of the herb collecting and constantly retracing your steps! One game that I used to play A LOT was the Die Hard Trilogy game on the first Playstation. I'd love to see them bring out an updated version of this, even try and get the 3-games-in-1 fitted in again. A 3rd-person, 1st-person and a driving one? Although I imagine we'd possibly end up with 3 average/mediocre games in one, or they'd try and maximise revenue by bringing out 3 separate games. Still, we're being hypothetical here so I can only dream :-)

As the months go by in 2010 I have been growing ever more excited about this year's installments of the most popular, and best, football simulations. And this year my excitement is that bit more than before, simply because I have no preference, no bias and am going to give both games a far chance to prove themselves. I've generally always leaned towards the PES games in the past, and whilst much of the preference - for players of both games - does come, I feel, from familiarity and becoming more skilled at one or the other, I have felt in the past that Pro Ev favoured a more passing and tactical approach, with FIFA having the classy visuals, sills and big names. But recently, and last year in particular, things have begun to change and in 2009, for the first time in as long as I can remember, I went with FIFA over PES. And I think this was the same for many, many players. From what I understand for the first time there was a real shift of users of one title going over to their 'opposing' number. What this HAS done, I believe, is create far more competition this time around - with FIFA looking to build on their success, and PES trying to catch up and make up for their last installment. Of course opinion will still be divided, but for the first time in a long time there was a gulf between the games with forced me over to FIFA 10 instead of PES 10. But part of me really hopes that this year Pro Ev can once again become my 'game of choice'(personally I prefer to go with one or the other). However the very fact I'm going to give both a fair bash is a new feeling for me(I know, probably should have been more open minded in the past). Last year it took me a bit of convincing, and an awful PES 10, to eventually try FIFA. I just hope the earlier release of FIFA to that of PES doesn't mean I'll be too attached to EA's game by the time the Konami version is on our shelves! Anyway my long, drawn out post is basically just to express my open-excitement for FIFA AND Pro Evolution Soccer, so how about anyone else? Any other FIFA converts? Or anyone who stuck with PES even last year?

I did like the look of this when the news first filtered through about it, however I'm not so sure about it reading a few PC/XB360 reviews of it and seeing some screenshots. Granted it could be good value for money, but at the same time I think there is still more playability left in the likes of MW2 and BC2 with new DLC that might make buying a cheap, but substandard, FPS a bit pointless. Still, I may try it out just for something new...

I bought the sunset themes, think it was only like 1.19, and they are really stunning - especially on a 40 inch HD TV.

OK as luck would have it both of these characters have similar situatuations and goals, just in very different time periods and go about them in very different ways... John Marston just wants to get back to his family, but in order to do this he needs to finish a job for a powerful organisation. Inception was deemed impossible by many, however Marston takes a new approach and rather than take the subtle method of tricking a person in their dreams into having an idea, decides to give them a nightmare of wildwest proportions. Forget resting your head on the tracks as an express train hurtles towards you, Martson will hogtie you down and watch as you get splattered...
