The Last of Us.

It's not even close in my opinion. The characters, story, gameplay, cinematics, writing, pacing, orchestral score, graphics, animation work, you name it and it pretty much sets the bar. Very few games are worth replaying more than once to me, I actually left compelled to beat this game on Survivor +. What a treat.

Honorable Mentions: Fallout 3, Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mass Effect (series), Persona 4 Golden

Never played TLoU, but yeah, I agree with the Uncharted series being overrated.

It's the reason I've been so reluctant to play TLoU, as it's supposedly similar to Uncharted.

Trail_Mix
It's not similar to Uncharted at all other than the 3rd person perspective. TLOU is a dark, tense, mature game. Uncharted is like a summer Hollywood action flick. Both great games, but totally different.

To be quite honest, you haven't even scratched the surface of this game. It begins to accelerate quickly a little bit farther than where you are.

I'm a level 60 Fighter. Once you get to level 35 and beat normal, Hard is where the game really opens up. A lot more people to play with. Probably all the Japanese people. I'm sure I'm in the top 5% of American players at this point.

This game is way better on the Vita. Perfect to pick up and play to continue leveling up. Online works great if you have a good connection.

This generation of video games has been the bridge between gaming consoles of the past and networked HD consoles of today. This has been the "toughest" generation for the PlayStation brand, but looking back on things, the hardcore have been served faithfully, and we are the ones who are most fired up for PS4.

That said, I was curious to hear about your favorite gaming experiences this generation. It can be a game, a series, a character, a level, whatever you want. I bring this topic up because I got to the Winter level in "The Last of Us" this evening, and that experience moved me in a way few others have. Here are some of my favorite experiences.

1. Metal Gear Solid 4- Chapter 4, The Return to Shadow Moses Island. This moment reconnected me to my childhood and fused it with the power of modern tech. When I reached this scene I knew that my day one purchase of a PS3 was validated.

2. The Last of Us- Everything about this game sends chills down my spine. I remember how shaken I was after a couple of the gun fights in this game. Shooting someone in the chest with a shotgun with the surround sound kicking feels particularly visceral in this game. The writing, the characters, the graphics, the story, the music, the pacing, the mood, you name it, this game just shines. I believe "The Last of Us" is the best game of this generation.

3. Warhawk- This was the beginning of online play on the PlayStation Network. Sure Resistance came first, but when Warhawk dropped, the PSN was born. I remember spending hundreds of hours capturing zones and flags, teaming up with squad mates, and dominating the competition. I would LOVE to see an FPS perspective of Warhawk that switches over to 3rd person in vehicles on the PS4.

4. M.A.G.- I was one of the lucky ones who had the opportunity to get to enjoy M.A.G. the way it was intended to be played. I had the opportunity to play on a clan where everyone had headsets, everyone chose specific specializations to round out squads, and everyone was wholly focused on winning rather than focusing on stats. We did a lot of winning, those couple hundred hours on M.A.G. were some of my fondest FPS memories this generation. I took pride in being an awesome medic and engineer.

5. God of War III- Boss Fights- Let me get this out of the way. God of War II was the superior game from top to bottom, but from a technical standpoint, God of War III's boss fights were superior. The battle against the Olympians and the TItans displayed a sense of scale and utter brutality never before shown in a video game. Want to put on a good show for friends? Fight a God in GoW III.

6. Mass Effect- With all due respect to the Uncharted series, this is my favorite trilogy of the generation. I've replayed each game at least twice. A testament to how good and how different the storylines can be.

7. Fallout 3- I've never been so engrossed by a gaming world. The depressing post apocalyptic setting was magnificently portrayed.  I remember feeling compelled to visit every place and ultimately earn a Platinum trophy. Not sure I'll never get another Platinum. Fallout 3 was totally worth it.

8. Civilzation Revolution- Probably my most played game this generation. Anytime is a good time to play the game of the week and take over the world. Seriously...an addiction.

9. Gears of War 3- My favorite Xbox exclusive. Dom's death in particular shook me to my very core. Horde mode was exceptionally fun and refined.

10. Uncharted 2- Well...the game is simply a masterpiece. So many wonderful things to say about the whole experience. But the thing that stands out the most to me was the beautiful, emotional, thoughtful ending between Drake and Elena. Made me realize how much I truly care about these characters. Video games really have come a long way.

Favorite game played this year or released this year?

Favorite released this year was BioShock Infinite. The Last of Us and Dragon's Crown are certainly in the running as well.

Favorite that I've played this year was Persona 4 Golden. Best JRPG I've ever played. It displaced Final Fantasy VII in my book.

Hi guys, I thought I'd share with you a very interesting experience that I had tonight. I went to Sears and bought myself T6 and T10 Torx Screwdrivers for $8. I bought these to open up the HDD from my old, broken 360.

You can find videos on Youtube if you'd like, but I'm here to vouch in person, that you can remove your HDD and literally SWAP it into the Arcade model. Now I have a 250 GB HDD on my Arcade 360. I didn't have to spend the extra $100 for the Shiny model. In fact, mine is better cause I have 3.2 more GB built right in!

The whole process literally took me like 8 minutes. It can take a few tries to get the HDD to "snap" in, but once you're set. You're set. I'd advise you keep your Xbox laying flat on a stable surface.

So whoever needs a new 360 and already has a HDD from a previous 360, buy the Arcade model and 2 screwdrivers. Pocket the extra $95+ bucks you've saved and buy yourself a few games or a Live Subscription.

Moderators, do you think we could stickie this?
