Games, Music and What Is a Keel Thon?

A Spanish video review of a Killzone game will give you your answer. Thought-transcribing of Killzone, I have been playing through the Killzone games in preparation for Shadow Fall later in the year. I have pre-ordered a PS4, so that I will have a new console on release for the first time. The closest to that was my first Xbox 360, which I got eleven months after it was released. Also, I want to play Killzone: Shadow Fall. So, getting back to Killzone, I am satisfied in having got the platinum trophy for Killzone 2. I don't care too much about trophies, but I do like to get them if they're not too out of the way, or if I'm not hunting down hundreds of secret items that do nothing. For now I'm playing Killzone 2's enjoyable online multiplayer until next week when I will start my second playthrough of Killzone 3, and maybe I'll even get another platinum trophy.

Here's my list of games I've completed this year so far (in chronological order):

Ratchet and Clank 3 [PS3]
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction [PS3]
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game [PS3]
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch [PS3]
BioShock Infinite [PC]
Spec Ops: The Line [PC]
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time [PS3]
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron [PS3]
Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time [PS3]
InFamous: Festival of Blood [PS3]
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning [PS3]
Spyro the Dragon [PS1]
Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer [PS1]
Alpha Protocol [PC]
The Last of Us [PS3]
Thomas Was Alone [PS3]
Chrono Trigger [DS]
Dishonored [PC]
Killzone [PS3]
Mark of the Ninja [PC]
Killzone 2 [PS3]

Yes, I've finished Chrono Trigger, for anyone who may care.

I've been making more music for my band (Slave Beaver Revolt) with Foolz3h and aaronmullan. We're nearing the completion of our second rap album, and then we're going to make our fourth main album. Our main albums are all three of us working together on a collection of whatever genres we feel like making songs in, unlike some albums which may be of primarily one genre or feature only two of us.

Main albums:

The Multi-Award Winning Debut Album (2010)
Three Cool Cats Shake Up the Industry (2010)
Creative Violence (2011)

Rap Albums:

We Keep Our Cars Running 24/7 (2011)
Satanista! (2013*)

*eventually

I will not list our many other releases.

In other music, I've been listening to a lot of these over the last three months:

Vanessa Carlton (490 plays)
Coheed and Cambria (319 plays)
Yeasayer (316 plays)
White Lung (277 plays)
LE1F (274 plays)
The Constructus Corporation (248 plays)
Daft Punk (184 plays)
The Mars Volta (133 plays)

Play counts are from Last.FM, and not a single metal band anymore! Oh well.

Now comment, Foolz3h.

Recent Things

by on

It's been almost half a year since I last wrote something on here, but it's time to write again. I'm not sure how many people are left on my friends list or how many will read this. I remember the times I would get more than 100 comments, even if some of them were conversations. It's strange to think that that was around five years ago. Not much has changed for me since then, but one thing that has changed just recently is that I am now living at another house near my mother's house, with my sister and three others. It's something new to me and it'll be interesting to see how it all progresses.

Games

I haven't played as many games so far this year as I would have liked. Three games are the cause of this, which are Guild Wars 2, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Guild Wars 2 is my first online RPG since I repeatedly killed cows in RuneScape in 2004/2005. For years I was unsure about playing another game of its kind because I didn't want to meet people and feel as though I have to play... which is what has happened. I'm not good at meeting people so I've met only a few over the hundreds of hours I've played (my list of friends is at five and one is my brother), but it's enough to have kept me playing. Now that I've come to this new house I've tried to move onto other games for now.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is an enjoyable game but I was slightly disappointed. Maybe I was just hoping it would be reminiscent of my favourite Studio Ghibli movies and Dark Chronicle. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is short on characters and stories I find notably appealing but the general gameplay is fun and enough to keep me going.

The other games I've completed this year:

BioShock Infinite - One of my favourite games.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - I like the art style and music, though I have mixed feelings about the combat and the story is weird.
inFamous: Festival of Blood - Short but fun.
Ratchet and Clank (3, Tools of Destruction, A Crack in Time) - I'd say 3 is probably my favourite but A Crack in Time is at least very close. Tools of Destruction is my least favourite since the first R&C game, but I still like them both.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - One game I should have played earlier. I liked playing it and I should try online co-op sometime.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - I don't think it's my favourite in the series or my least favourite. It's good to see a Sly game with more detail.
Spec Ops: The Line - Interesting game. I played co-op with Foolz3h in one of the few games I've played online.

I've also been playing Alpha Protocol and Spyro the Dragon.

I started Papo & Yo on Monday and I don't expect it to take too long for me to finish. I plan on getting Guild Wars 2 when it comes out, so it'll be good to make time by finishing off the games I've been playing.

I've been watching a lot of wrestling recently too.

I've finished Final Fantasy XIII-2's [PS3] main story but I want to do a few more things in it before I'm done. Deus Ex [PC] should be finished by tomorrow. I started Papo & Yo on Monday and I don't expect it to take too long for me to finish. I plan on getting Guild Wars 2 when it comes out, so it'll be good to make time by finishing off the games I've been playing.

But I Have Returned

by on

I'm not sure anyone outside of a few people knew I was away, and I don't expect anyone to be that interested in where I am, but I have returned. I think I watched more than eighty movies while I was away. I would list them, but my computer broke and half the list's on the hard drive (which still works). The other half of the list is written on paper and I haven't copied it yet. I should have a new (laptop) computer in about a month. I do have a list of all the games I've finished this year. This list is simpler than it will be when I get a new computer and the rest of the list off the hard drive. I've played a few other games a lot but these are just games with main story modes.

  1. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory [PS3]
  2. inFamous [PS3]
  3. Mass Effect [PC]
  4. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back [PS1]
  5. Mass Effect 2 [PC]
  6. God of War III [PS3]
  7. Mass Effect 3 [PC]
  8. Metal Gear Solid [PS1]
  9. Yakuza 3 [PS3]
  10. Fallout 3 [PS3]
  11. Metal Gear Solid 4 [PS3]
  12. Resistance: Fall of Man [PS3]
  13. Resistance 2 [PS3]
  14. Resistance 3 [PS3]
  15. Sly Raccoon [PS3]
  16. Sly 2: Band of Thieves [PS3]
  17. Sly 3: Honour Among Thieves [PS3]
  18. inFamous 2 [PS3]
  19. Dragon Age II [PS3]

The next will probably be Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Games I've Been Playing [29th of April Obviously]

by on

Let's see what I've finished so far this year (and beware of GameSpot's space eater):

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back [PS1]- 13thof February to 21stof February
Fallout 3 [PS3]- 20thof February 2011 to 29thof March
God of War III [PS3]- 12thof February to 10thof March
inFamous [PS3]? June 2011 - 20thof January
Mass Effect [PC]- 30thof January to 20thof February
Mass Effect 2 [PC]- 21stof February to 8thof March
Mass Effect 3 [PC]- 9thof March to 17thof March
Metal Gear Solid [PS1]? 23rdof February to 21stof March
Metal Gear Solid 4 [PS3]? 22ndof March to 12thof April
Resistance: Fall of Man [PS3]- 29thof March to 18thof April
Resistance 2 [PS3]- 18thof April to 23rdof April

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory [PS3]? 1stof January to 13thof January
Yakuza 3 [PS3]- 12th(?) of December 2010 to 27thof March

And now the current ones:

Chrono Trigger
I'm still "playing" this because I've temporarily stopped for some reason. I'll be staying at my mother's house again soon so I'll get back to it then. I think I'm near the end anyway. My main three characters are Crono, Marle and Frog.

Resistance 3
I only recently finished this, so I'll allow it on here. Resistance 3 is definitely my favourite of the Resistance series. I liked the previous ones but the third just stood out for me most. The first two were more military-based and the third is just one person killing beyond a thousand enemies because he's just invincible and overpowered like that. Resistance 3 doesn't even have auto recharging health! Maybe it's more common to go without it than I think, but I was surprised to have to look for health everywhere. It was appealing.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
I just played the first level of this because I felt like it. It's far from a modern FPS, but its older style is not something I think that much about after I play for a while. Nothing has to "age badly".

This dinosaur really is hungry.

He's calling customer service for his bleeding hat.

I think I'll try some Resistance 3 online multiplayer and then play either Vanquish or Sly Raccoon next.

That is all.

Any chance anyone can recommend musicals (in movie form)? Or dance (in music form)?

That is extra.

That is all.

Going Through My GS Avatars Part 4

by on

I said I'd keep doing this, so it must be done. Part four starts with number 18:

Quorthon
18. Quorthon of the band Bathory.
Yes.

Elton John
19. A part of the cover of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John.
GYBR was my first Elton John album and I thought that the picture of him on the cover would look good as an avatar. I think I had problems with the right level of colour saturation.

Don Quixote
20. A part of the cover of one edition of "Don Quixote" (an English translation).
I had recently bought the book along with "In Cold Blood" and "The Master and Margarita" (which I'll get to), and, again, I just liked the look of it.

The Master and Margarita
21. A part of the cover of one edition of "The Master and Margarita" (an English translation).
Looking back on it, I wish I had gone for a different picture of the cat Behemoth. This one was made to look like a mask.

Freddie Mercury
22. One of the later photos of Freddie Mercury.
"Looking back on it, I wish I had gone for a different picture of" Freddie Mercury. Maybe I could have chosen one from when he had long hair.

Queen
23. Some of the cover of Queen's self-titled debut album.
Oh, wait, I did choose an older one, unless that happens to be the photographers assistant or something.

Freddie Mercury
24. A part of the video for "I'm Going Slightly Mad".
This one was made for me by someone who might prefer not to be named. I still use this one on TV.com (unless the now-CBS god has consumed it). It's also the only avatar I've had that isn't still frame.

Windflowers
25. A part of "Windflowers" by John William Waterhouse, who was a painter and not a musician (but if he were a musician then this picture clearly indicates brutal death metal).
This is from what at least used to be my favourite painting. I should find out if it still is.

That's that done for now. Listen to this very heavy metal songand be surprised.

Games I've Been Playing

by on

I'm sure there's something else I should be writing instead of this. Anyway, here's what I've been playing recently.

Yakuza 3
My first Yakuza game. I started it in December 2010 and quite liked it. I bought it last year (after renting) but I still haven't finished it because of other games getting in the way. The combat can be a little repetitive but it's relatively uncommon compared to the long, long cutscenes. Well, they're not an hour long, but they're still pretty long. There are numerous side quest that are mostly just more combat and picking up keys off the ground. I've started the last chapter and I'm hoping to finish it on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Metal Gear Solid 4
There are a few annoyances in this one (in cutscenes actually), but I can ignore them as they're only minor. I finally played and finished the first MGS recently and liked it though it did feel dated at first. I'm not fully sure of what to think of MGS4 yet. I'm up to "Act 2" and so far it may be my least favourite in the series. I'll have to see what happens next.

Chrono Trigger
One of a few non-Pokémon DS games I've got that I wanted to get to at some point. Broken headphones and needing to avoid using the Internet too much for two days led me to playing it. I'm pleased to be playing a game like this again. I did start it a few years ago but got stuck (somehow). I didn't get stuck this time and now I'm really liking it. It's surprising how fresh it feels after seventeen years.

Killzone 3
Not my favourite Killzone for multiplayer but that doesn't mean I don't like it. I've been playing it on and off since the game's release last year. I can do well at my best and not so well at my worst, unlike Foolz3h in Killzone 2. I use the infiltrator cIass but I sometimes use tactician for Warzone mode.

That is all. I didn't even use the word "interesting".
