Yeah, I'm avoiding using the guide too much as well. I've read the first chapters covering some of the basics, and I've scanned over the walkthrough chapters for areas I've already been through, but the rest I refuse to look at until I've completed the game.

I should have checked but im deliberatly not looking through the guide so i dont spoil the game. I remember regretting the guide for ff12 and had to wait 3 years for the next final fantasy. i like surprises.
