i recently bought Metro 2033 and Last light on GOG without realising it's only got checkpoints.

The game has some tricky moments and very quickly i got fed up with having to play long sections over and over again.

I've tried googling for a save cheat that will allow you to save when you like.

I'm surprised there isn't one really - this is a big flaw and i figured some smart person would have sorted it out - smarter than me, anyway...

Anyone know of anything i can use?

Otherwise I'm not playing what seems like a good game otherwise...

hey

just logging again because i have a question

i haven't been on here for a long time (6+ years...) but when i was the forum was different and there was a small but perfectly formed group called 'Drunken PC Gamers' or suchlike. Just wondered if any of you guys were still knocking around?

I've downloaded the lastest patch for clear sky but when i run the game my saved game is not compatible and will only let me start a new game. any advice greatly recieved as its starting to get to me. Thanks.nutter101

well, yes you will have to start again - it's that simple - annoying i know, but the last couple of times i did the swamps (i tried to play the thing 4 times) it didn't take long - just run around doing whatever they tell you and you'll be back at the Cordon being gunned down by that machine gunner before you know it...

an old DOS Star Trek game about 25-30 years ago - it was set in a grid, which was the universe, which contained several galaxies - spaceships and starbases were represented by a letter and you had to guess the right angle to fire torpedoes to hit the enemy - was quite absorbing actually

a galaxy looked something like this, with 'K' for Klingon, 'E' Enterprise and 'S' Starbase:

. . . . . K . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . .

. . . E . . . . . K .

. . . . . . . . . . .

. . . S . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . .

Wow I remember playing that, you also had x amout of moves to clear the grid of Klingons.. Great fun and boy do I feel old now.:)

smart! never thought i'd find someone else who knew about that game - you're right it was a good game - proof that 'less' can indeed be 'more' :)

It's obviously SoC. He referred to the barkeep, the flash drive, I linked to my SoC review and wasn't corrected.

True_Sounds

there's barkeeps and flashdrives in the second one too, but whatever, no worries

i watched the E3 live demo for Wolfenstein and was a bit disappointed TBH - OK, it was only one section but it looked a bit dark and as though the sci-fi fantasy/elements had completely subsumed the WW2 elements - also looked like they were trying to incorporate elements of Bioshock's plasmids etc

ao although i loved RTCW, i'm not so enthiusiastic about the new game now, though will keep an eye on it

Ok, I've got to the next bit and it says I've got to capture and hold this location. I've killed all teh enemies, what do I do there? Are there still soem left or do I have to do soemthing else ? :P

joshuahaveron

The bit in the swamps is a bit confusing for sure

If you look on your pda it should indicate if there are stalkers coming your way - if so just hang out 'til they get there - at which point they say thanks and i think there's a reward.

In the swamp level, you basically have to carry out a few missions until it gets to the point where you can get a guide to take you to the Cordon.

Just remember to pick up all rewards, and make more money by picking up and flogging loads of gear at the Clear Sky base before you leave the swamps to go go through the Cordon, as it's not easy getting back
