Hey Everybody!

Hey GS and friends!

How's everybody been lately? Just checkin in to say a few things about what's going on in my life, and how I've been doing on the game-front. I've been playing a lot of CoD4:MW and CoD:MW2. I never finished either game, and so far it's really fun. I really want to finish it before MW3 comes out. I need to get Black Ops as well. The only thing I don't like about the games is how extremely weak my comrades are. I mean one bullet wound in each buy and BOOM I have to finish the level by myself. It doesn't help that my aim needs a little help and friendly fire is a common occurrence in our missions.I have also been playing Yu-Gi-Oh: The Eternal Duelist Soul on my PC emulator. I have built my deck back up to what it used to be when I played in on handheld all the time. The only card I'm missing is Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. There's no code for it, so I expect to have it in the next couple weeks.

I really want to get XBOX live, but to do that I have to get a wireless adapter plus the membership, as my 360 does not have wifi built in. Which really sucks.

Switching gears from gaming to the real world, we finally finished getting new floors today. They are wood laminate, but they look spectacular. By puppy has a lot of trouble running through the house now without slipping everywhere. It's pretty funny.

I got Netflix the other day, and I watch movies all the time now on my Wii. If anyone doesn't have it, I sincerely recommend it. It also has a lot of TV shows on it.

Well that's all for today! Cya!

Sims 3, Texas, and Powerade

Well hello GS! I thought I'd drop in to update you all on a few things in my life. Lately I've been obsessed with the Sims 3. The sad part is that I only really like to build the houses. I rarely play the game lol. I can spend hours making a layout and building it. Then it takes even longer to furnish it. Sad I know. :P I think I need to dust off the 360 that is currently used primarily for DVDs. Perhaps I will revisit CoD or Tekken 6.

I'm pretty excited about next week. I'm going to Texas with a couple of my college friends! We are gonna hit up Six Flags. It's my mission to ride every single roller coaster there - multiple times. We shall see. I went to Florida a few years ago and all the rides at Universal Studios were excellent. Arlington better be up to par.

Also, I was at walmart tonight because my sister needed hair dye, when I stumbled across Powerade Zero. Now, having been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year, I was sad to have to give up all my favorite gaming foods - namely Powerade and Cheetos. The sugar in a regular Powerade would probably put me in a coma lol :P So I was happy when I stumbled across Powerade Zero. No sugar and no carbs! That, coupled with baked cheetos (you acquire the taste sooner or later), means that I am back into the mood to play WoW. I think I should really buy the Xpac and renew my subscription (I took a break about a year ago). This summer is shaping up to be pretty awesome! :)

E3 Conference Thoughts

*Reader Beware! This is going to be a looooong blog.*

E3 has definately been riviting this year. I thought I'd give some thoughts on each of the Big 5's press conferences!

Well Microsoft really wowed me this go around. It has a special place in my heart, as my 360 is one of my most prized posessions. (And my favorite next gen console, having purchased all 3.) The game demos and teasers looked superb. There are definately a few I think I'll have to buy, namely Modern Warefare 3 and Gears of War 3. Here's a quick list of all the games that were demo'd:

  • Modern Warfare 3
  • Tomb Raider
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
  • Gears of War 3
  • Fable: The Journey
  • Star Wars Kinect
  • Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster
  • Kinect Fun Labs
  • Kinext Sports Season 2
  • Dance Central 2

Now I wasn't really impressed with Ghost Recon. I think that there are too many of them and it just looked like all the rest. They announced a new game called Ryse, set in ancient Rome, which looks pretty awesome. Also, Minecraft is coming to XBOX 360! This should be interesting. Having only dabbled in it on PC, I'm anxious to try it out on the 360.

By far the most exciting announcement was Halo 4. Oh yes you heard me correctly. HALO 4! It will be a-may-zing. Can't wait! However, Microsoft did spend a fair amount of time trying to convince me to buy a Kinect. Kinect can do this and Kinect can do that. Oh, did I mention Kinect?? Yeah well I am just not into it. I have played on one before. It just seems nicer to play with a good old fashioned controller. I suppose if all the new games only work with Kinect then I will have to get one. And I don't need all my other stuff connected to it, like my tv shows and movies.

Overall I think Microsoft's presentation was much better than it's past conferences. They definately 1-up'd last year. Now it's just an antagonizing wait for the games to actually come out. A- for good effort.

Electronic Arts!

EA! One of my favorites. This year they unveiled several new games, cheifly among them Mass Effect 3. I think that this year was somewhat average. There were not really any big titles to get overly excited about.

  • Mass Effect 3
  • Need for Speed The Run
  • Star Wars: Old Republic
  • SSX
  • Fifa 12
  • Madden NFL 12
  • The Sims Social
  • Kingdoms of Almalur: Reckoning
  • Overstrike
  • Battlefield 3

Pretty much a C+ average overall. I dislike sports games, and who really needs yet another Star Wars game?? Kingdoms of Almalur looks promising. But after playing WoW for 3 years, a fantasy game really has to go all out to impress me. We shall see, EA. We shall see.

Ubisoft was surprisingly intriguing this year. They opened up with a game called Rayman Origins that looked easy but fun. Other games introduced were:

  • Driver: San Francisco
  • Far Cry 3
  • Brothers in Arms: Furious 4
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
  • Raving Rabbids: Alive and Kicking
  • Just Dance 3
  • Rocksmith
  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Words cannot express my excitement for Assassin's Creed. Oh my gosh. It was an awesome trailer. While I thought Altair was more fun to play than Ezio, this game will be superb for sure. Ubisoft was celebrating its first 25 years, and one wonders what the next 25 will bring. A- for Ubisoft.

This year Sony was... should we say... good and bad. The good? Sony has a new handheld coming out, the PSVita. It even has 3g functionality. The bad? Users will be forced to get a data plan with AT&T if they want to use this feature. I hate AT&T so the 3g Vita is out for me. It is very pretty, though. The games highlighted looked great, as always.

  • Uncharted 3
  • Resistance 3
  • NBA 2K12
  • Medieval Moves
  • Infamous 2
  • Starhawk
  • Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
  • Dust 514
  • Bioshock Infinite
  • Star Trek
  • SSX
  • Need for Speed On the Run
  • Battlefield 3
  • PS Suite (Ps3 data for androids)
  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss
  • Ruin
  • Modnation Racers
  • Street Fighter x Tekken

Whew. And you wonder why their presentation was 2 hours long. :P Before leaving the stage, they announce that the PSVita will be available during the holiday season (big surprise there) for a whopping $249.99. ($299.99 if you want the 3g model.) I don't know about you but that is not a reasonable price for me. I don't care if it has a touch screen or not. I'm happy with my PSP Phat 2000 model. They better keep making games for it. B+.

Ah, Good old Nintendo. The first console I ever played was a SNES. Me, Kirby, and Mario had some good times back then. But I digress. This year they seemed unstoppable in their presentation. After a somewhat boring first day, Nintendo swooped in to raise everyone's spirits. Let me start off by introducing you to the Wii U. Pretty, to say the least. This might even be downright sexy. It has soooo many amazing features. I think I am going to have to get one. Seeing as how Nintendo is known mostly for making kid-friendly games, I wa surprised to see a few I would like to play. Namely the new Zelda games. Here's a list:

Nintendo 3DS:

  • Mario Kart
  • Luigi's Mansion 2
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Animal Crossing
  • Super Mario
  • Star Fox 64 3D
  • Paper Mario
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games
  • The Rolling Western
  • Picture Lives!
  • Ace Combat 3D
  • Heroes of Ruin
  • Resident Evil: Revelations
  • Fifa Soccer 12
  • Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater
  • Tetris

  • Wii Play: Motion
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Mario Party 9
  • Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident
  • Kirby Wii
  • Rhythm Heaven
  • Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games
  • Fortune Street
  • Go Vacation
  • Just Dance 3

Nintendo DS:

  • Kirby: Mass Attack
  • Professor Layton and the Last Specter
  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2
  • Super Fossil Fighters

Like I said, mostly kiddie games. Not all were in the conference, but I got a list frim their official website. Resident Evil looks promising. I was surprised when they announced a ResEvil game for Nintendo, I thought they weren't going to again after ResEvil 4. Nonetheless, I bet is it awesome. It would have been cooler if it was on the Wii. Nintendo gets an A+ for an amazing showcase. Lets hope the other companies take a cue from Nintendo and step up the conferences next year.

Well. It's been about two years since I've been online :P Done a lot since then. Graduated HS, and finished freshman year of college. E3 has brougt me back this year. Maybe I'll go ahead and add a shortcut to good old gamespot on my yahoo toolbar :P How has everyone been? Played any good games lately?? ;)
