@kyelo @jdemarsico15 Yes, I get it. That is why I wrote "I know there are more editors lists and whatnot and more decisions factored into the GoTY" I'm just pointing out what is being presented to us; which is I imagined more top 5 lists with SoM. The video game community seems to think DA:I is the best game of 2014, and just based on what we are being shown, Gamespot editors also think it's a top 5 game of 2014.
Is anyone else noticing that none of these guys/girls even have Shadow Of Mordor on their personal top 5, yet we are seeing a lot of DA:I. I know there are more editors lists and whatnot and more decisions factored into the GoTY, but I was expecting to see SoM consistently in top 5's if it's the consensus best game of 2014.
Not even trolling either, I just was hoping it was three actually well designed levels and them talking about it, not them just randomly playing dumb levels and having fun. Jumping on a trampoline may be fun to some people, but watching somebody jump on one is not.... I would have liked to see this showcase the people who made super creative levels, not "slap the guy off the ledge" (that doesn't even work anyway) levels.
So I take it it's not really the "best" LBP3 levels of the week... it's more like "The 3 random levels we played."
How was the 2nd level they showed even remotely close to the "best" of the week? Literally nothing was accomplished at all... Idk, it seems kinda lazy, like they recorded it all in 20 minutes and basically just chose 5 or so levels and picked their favorite 3 of the 5
I feel like this game will go down as almost a "cult classic." It may not be talked about much in very long, but I think there is going to be a large community of people who, when mentioned, jump at the opportunity to praise this game, it's memorable.
To me, it was a throw back to survival horror games, and something that I've been waiting on for a very long time. Of course it had a couple of negatives (as did every RE/Silent Hill game), but the style of game play leads to incredibly tense fights with the feeling of great reward when accomplished. The cheesy voice acting and so-so story almost add to that classic survival horror nostalgia... If you grew up loving the RE or Silent Hill series, than pick this game up, it's worth it.
@mdign @bldgirsh mdign is right... docking points on a futuristic fictional game because you can't relate to it is very strange. We watch plenty of movies, TV shows and play tons of games that have story lines that we may not relate to whatsoever... It doesn't change the quality of the product as a whole. The reviewer should have just docked it for having a bad or shallow/half-assed single player, rather than trying to make himself seem like a hipster saying "just can't relate to the story," as if he needs to parallel his life to every form of entertainment.
@amar1234 Even if a sandwich cost $60, it would still be petty and annoying to run around and tell people they are stupid or wrong for liking that sandwich, when it really has no barring on your life at all. You don't HAVE to buy the sandwich, there are cheaper sandwich's, and other foods to eat. He wasn't comparing the sandwich directly to a video game in the sense that they exact equals.
I love how in the review he gives an example of a "forced gunfight" where you kill the guy who looks like bill from kill bill (can't remember his name) when you don't even have to kill him via that gun fight scene....It's really not THAT linear, just look around, there is plenty of stuff to miss
