I played TC4 in the arcades and it was awesome.  That kind of news might actually make me want the PS3 finally, especially if it works with my GunCon2's

Aerobiz was a fun airport tycoon type game, but that was SNES.  It was also pretty simple, and probably doesn't hold up well with age.

Yeah, my post did come off like that, but aside from perhaps Super Mario Galaxy, what great marvels of production can we really expect? Personally I'm more impressed with how games like Opoona (or to a lesser extent Dragon Quest Swords) are trying to do something new with Wii, or at least make something that works with Wii in a way that's actually novel or playable.

I'm not impressed so far... the game selection has been pisspoor.  Where's  all the A-list Nintendo titles?  What about all the 16-bit blockbusters that came from 3rd parties over the years?  The choice titles are trickling in slowly, and not all of them even translate flawlessly.

On top of all that, you've got the steep pay scale.  The games themselves are quite pricey for a simple game download, and add that in to having to buy Wii Points in chunks, its very easy to waste money or be left with unused points.  Considering the MUCH less expensive and MUCH more robust options out there (albeit most are less than legal), Nintendo does not seem to be trying hard enough to make VC attractive.  Seems to me like a way to rake in a quick buck against those who are too good-natured or too technology-impaired to acquire these games via emulation.

Meh... and what exactly is Nintendo offering above minigames and sequels right now? When I see some blockbuster original Wii games from Nintendo, then they can start to brag about how much effort their putting in.  Tech demos and ported GC titles do not a A-title lineup make.

It does have a bit of a novel look perhaps... but damn does it look generic.  Using primitive shapes for characters is kindof unique, but also very bland.  It'd need some top-notch story, game mechanics or music to make up for it... but I don't see it happening.

Wha?  That's not really a deal at all!  They typically give you ~$20 when you trade in a newish game anyway. Remeber, Gamestop makes its money by giving you bad deals... giving you a few dollars for trades and putting it back on the shelf for somtimes upwards of 10x what they gave you (in store credit, mind!). I'd only use them if you either are trading them games that would be difficult to sell otherwise, or don't mind trading the steep pay scale for convienient access to old games that have been chewed all to hell by 8 year olds.

I doubt we'll see a main FF on Wii... DEFINENTLY not FFXIII, at the very least.

It would be nice though.  Sadly, it seems Nintendo has been relegated to the spinoff/sequel/remake end of the FF universe, while consoles with the beef (PS3, and potentially 360) will get the real goods.  FF games, ever since the PSX days at least, have been all about making visual marvels with technical flair.  The Wii just simply isn't capable of near the visceral quality the other systems are... right now its struggling to keep up with last gen.  I think developers are reacting to Wii with "this isn't a console we can release our core titles on", which is kindof a shame.

Plus, everyone expects Wii games to use motion-sensing, something very out-of-place in the RPG world.  What RPG makers SHOULD do for Wii is use the "Wii Pointer Technology" (known as IR Triangulation outside N's marketing division) to make menu-driven RPGs into a point-and-click interface.  Done right, I think it could really streamline menu-driven battles.  Imagine a game like FFXII where you point-and-click enemies for attacks, and other buttons call up quick menus to fire off spells and items.  It'd be killer.
