@jellyman68 @iBuSHiDo The people that try it and don't like it can not like it all they want. I'm not referring to them. I'm referring to the people who try it and then become angry and feel the need to put it down and the people who like it. There's a big difference between a game having a flaw, and a game having something you don't like in it. It's not a flaw if it's done intentionally and the fans like it that way. If you don't like it, then YOU don't like it, which has nothing to do with the quality of the game. Titanfall got a 9. I'm not into those kind of games. I'm not on here begging for a second review that says it's mediocre so I can prove to the fans that my opinion is somehow a fact. I don't do that because I'm not dumb, and I'm not an asshole. Those are the people I'm talking about. Make sense?

The whole war between Souls fans and the haters is so misunderstood IMO. People think that the game attracts these obnoxious elitists that wanna go around on message boards and toot their own horn and put down the people that don't like those games. It seems to me to be the exact opposite.

The problem I see is not who the game attracts, but who it strongly deflects. The people who try the game and get angered by it. They are the ones that go into the boards where Souls fans are talking about their beloved franchise and start saying things like "It's so stupid! Why would I wanna just keep dying!? There isn't even a map! How am I supposed to figure out where to go!? Where are the cutscenes that explain the story? These games SUCK!"

The only way to argue against that is to simply point out that they are playing it wrong, don't get it, or can't handle it, and unfortunately that comes across as elitist, but that's the position fans are put in. We can either ignore you, or tell you why you're unable to enjoy the game, but you already know why, which is why you're angry in the first place. The Souls series doesn't bring out the worst in its fans, it brings out the worst in its haters.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this review only exists to fuel the fire between the two sides. It insults the fans by saying what they love is mediocre at best, and it reassures the haters that your anger is justified and you should tell Souls fans all about it. This does nothing for the GS community, but create an increase in negative interactions.

@d-man @iBuSHiDo I know he didn't like the game. Is that at all what I was questioning? Also, I had 8 likes last I checked. Now I see 1. Is it possible to unlike something? Pretty suspicious.

There is absolutely no point to this review even existing, other than to reassure the people who didn't like Dark Souls II or the Souls games in general, that you're not alone in not getting it or not enjoying it.

Fans of the series know they like it and why. They read the other review to see what a fan has to say about it. That's all that is needed.

I personally hate most FPS multiplayer games. I want to like them. I want to believe the hype, but they just aren't my thing. If a new one comes out and gets a 9, and then I review it and give it a 5, how would people react and what would be the point? It would just piss off the fans, and reassure the haters. Both of those things are negative.

The only thing "Amazing" about this is that the PS2 Spider-Man game did better with the swinging mechanics and maneuverability.

I'd say we should all know better than to ever expect something like this to be good, but then everyone always busts out Arkham Asylum and saying it was way better than it had any right to be, it shocked us all, etc.

I agree, it was a great game, but it wasn't as shocking as people think they remember. There was a ton of coverage and all the previews were presented in such a way as to ask, "Will this finally be a good Batman game? Will this finally be a good superhero game? It looks like there's a good chance!" Anyone who got to try it before it came out had great things to say as well. Does anyone remember anything like that with this game? With any other licensed garbage? I don't mean positive hype, cuz every game has that. I mean honestly wondering if they've finally done something different than the usual, slopped-together as quickly as possible to turn a profit kind of garbage we've seen so many times.

Somewhere out there, there's a suit who wanted to make money and they thought, "Let's throw together another Spider-Man game. The kids love Spider-Man. It'll be easy to turn a profit. Even people who don't expect it to be good might give it a chance just because it says Spider-Man on the cover. Here's the check. Get it done. Oh, and make it fast, cuz I need more money."

@AdaptorLive @iBuSHiDo I was hoping that quoting Dark Helmet from Spaceballs would be enough of an indication of how serious I was with my post. =P

To everyone confused by the 8, see, there's two sides to every Schwartz. There's the up side and the down side. Good is the upside. Bad is the downside. A happy game that is good will get a 10. A sad game that is good can only go as high as 8 because sadness is bad and bad is the down side.

I hope I cleared that up for everyone. You're welcome, @TomMcShea .

I already did all of this with Saints Row IV and the characters were actually all likable and funny and the gameplay was much deeper and varied. I'd say if you've never played Saints Row IV and you never plan to, then maybe this game will seem cool to you, but for anyone who already has played Saints Row IV, this looks like a demo version of that where they take away most of the city, most of the characters, most of the powers, and most of the story and save it for the full version.
