If you're going to be jealous of someone, you need to be jealous of everything. You're jealous that he's having a kid? Can you also be jealous about how that gives him a complete lack of free time? Can you also be jealous of how that kid is going to make him financially broke as hell? I have 2 of my own but there's no way I could have handled it well if I was his age when I started.

States can collect taxes in 3 ways: sales, property, and income. In order for a state government to function properly, they have to do 2 of those 3. In Texas, for instance, we do not have a state income tax, but we have a sales and property tax. Another state may not have property tax, but they will have state income and sales tax.

Tenure, as it applies to public school teachers at least, does not mean that you can't get fired for incompetence. It simply means that you must be given due process. So basically, it just means that there has to be a valid reason for terminating a teacher's contract and a hearing before the school board. So if you fail to do your job properly, you will get canned just like in any other profession.
