Top 10 Favorite Albums - 10

by on

Heres the start of my top ten favorite albums. I'll also be putting in a honorable mention in everypost. the HM are in no particular order.

Oh, Inverted World - The Shins

Year: 2001

Singles: Know Your Onion! , New Slang

Awards: Pitchfork Media's 115th Best Album of All Time

My Favorite Song: New Slang

This album really took me by suprise. After a few times of listening to it, the genius of it was quite evident to me. Its has its own little contain world, and all the song are brilliant, indie with a twist of pop and transparent lyrics. My two favorite songs (New Slang and Caring is Creepy) are both in the movie "Garden State", so you might have heard them. Also, its prettycool to note that "The Past and Pending" was played at Heath Ledger's funeral.

Honorable Mention: Audioslave (Self-Titled Album) - 2002

I now have a PS3.

#2 - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, X360, PS3, Wii)

File:Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare.jpg

I think most people can agree that the fourth installement of the Call of Duty series is the best and most polished yet. (i wrote this before MW2 came out, even then, i think MW1 is better). The descision to leave WWII was well done, and IF managed to make it feel like priorCOD games, but updated it well with the technology of modern warfare. The single-player campaign, while a little short, was well-paced and very fun. It had some very intense firefight levels, while still having some slower paced missions. All-Ghillied Up is my favorite mission from any game i've ever played. The multiplayer , however, is why most people enjoy this game so much. The XP system, the leveling, and unlockables all make this the most addictive multiplayer i've played. It really makes you wanna keep playing until you get that next level. It really its just well-done, and any new multiplayer shooter is inevitable going to be compared. Overall, COD4:MW is one of the few games that i consider to be close to gaming perfection.

Since I took so long to finish this list, i'll put up a complete list of the previous entries a day or two before i put the #1 game.

EDIT: Also, I think it's time I get a new sig. I've had this one for well over two years. So anyone who can/wants to make me a new one, just PM me and i'll give you the details. It'll probably be something with dragon age or ac2. thanks

#3 - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC, Xbox)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Boxshot

Most anyone who has played this game know it is excellent. My favorite Bioware game to date (although that could change pretty soon here). The story starts off kinda of slow, but its builds up to probably my favorite moment in any game. And that is the twist, which I won't spoil for anyone who hasn't played it. The twist is excellent, and you probably won't see it coming, but it does actually make sense. After that the story really picks up and gets really good. You might be a little turned off by the combat system from just watching, but it is actually really good, and adds a lot of strategy to the game. Plus, its a freaking Star Wars game, so you do use lightsabers and use all the awsome force powers. The interactions with your npc companions are good as well. While the conversation system might not be as good as Mass Effect, it definetly layed down the path. You can choose to be nice to your buddies, or be a total jerk and go all dark side on them. This goes with the story as well, and you can make many choices about how or what you wanna do. This is an excellent game, one that a really really enjoyed. Ifyou call yourself an RPG fan, then you probably have already played it, but if you havent and own a 360 or PC, go to amazon.com and order one now! (you won't find it in stores, trust me, i looked)

#4 - Mass Effect (PC, Xbox 360)

Mass Effect cover.PNG

I've always loved a good Bioware game, and this is definetly one of them. The graphics are amoung the best in gaming , although it sometimes take a minute for the game to catch up with itself. The controls hamper the gameplay, its not that bad. Biotics are a cool, interesting fusion of magic and the "force". Its a lot of fun to lift someone in the air, then send them flying a throw. The story is also one of the best in terms of how in touch you feel with it. The many decisions you can make and the excellent conversation system really add to this. The universe is probably Bioware's best to date. It adds a lot of history, drama, politics, and even discrimination, that make it feel like it could be a real place.

#5 - The Elder Scrols IV: Oblivion (2006)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Boxshot

I know I've done my fair share of complaining about this game, and that I've said Morrowind is a much better game. I almost didn't even have this in the top 10. But then i remembered how much I played this game, despite it's shortcomings. I don't like the fast travel system, i don't like the "adaptive difficulty", and i definetly don't like that there is only 4 factions after Morrowind had 10. But I still do like this game. It was much prettier than Morrowind, and the combat was better for the most part. You actually felt like your were actually hitting something this time around. The main storyline was nothing special, but getting to hear Sean Bean's voice for a majority of it was pretty nice. The Dark Brotherhood questline, on the other hand, had a damn good story. One of my favorites. The DLC's were pretty decent too. Most of them were just differant theme'd houses you could pimp out. My favorite was probably the last, Fighter's Stronghold. Knights of the Nine was pretty, despite being so short. But the expansion, The Shivering Isles, was excellent. The quests were very fun, the landscape was awsome to look at, and I liked it probably more than Oblivion itself. Plus the endgame reward is awsome.
