The name is based off an event called the "LA Lights" (google it). In the mid 1940s, I think, thousands of people in LA saw a massive disk shaped object in the sky. Spotlights followed it while military personnel fired for maybe hours. They assumed it was some kind of Russian craft. However, nothing seemed to affect it. Later, the object, well, went away. The next day government organizations published contradictory statements, i.e. "it was a weather balloon," and, "the lights were just flares." This, the Roswell Incident, and the Phoenix Lights are probably the three most profound UFO events ever documented. There are some really insane photographs of these events online. You should check them out.
