@DomaineStickem Bro, you realize that this is a separate team working on Victory, right? Ubisoft has more than one team making games yo. Just like with Call of Duty.

So...like every other version, it's pretty much still Minecraft. Good to know.

Yes, but here's the important question. Will we still be using it to shoot primarily brown people? Because I don't know about you, but having to face a different bogeyman might be too much for my brain to handle.

I haven't fully read through the review yet but...how the hell does a game lose 4 points during a port? I don't care if two separate people reviewed a game, if you're going to try to have any kind of objective, meaningful standard to review scores, who reviews the game shouldn't matter all that much.

Unless you're going to say that it's subjective and based on the reviewer, which invalidates all your reviews, since the reviews are based off of personal feelings and not any kind of defined critical process.

Either way, it's pretty shameful.

@Sevenizz Nintendo has been "dying" since the Wii came out. Why don't you and Michael "I Wish I Didn't Eat That Butter Today" Pachter hang out and talk about how irrelevant Nintendo has been for the past decade, and how they're clearly dying.

@canuckbiker Nintendo didn't make that, Ubisoft did. And it's pretty unique in that it's one of the only "serious" games released on the Wii U so far. At least of the games I can think of off the top of my head.

And this is one of the reasons I like Nintendo so much. They are kinda the odd duck out there and their games never seem too serious. After skipping a few generations of Nintendo consoles in favor of Playstation, I'm definitely going to Nintendo this time. Wii U is looking to have a solid lineup by the end of the year and the 3DS already has a ton of fantastic games. Hoping Nintendo will do a Wii U/3DS bundle or something, because that would make getting the consoles a lot easier : P

@rushiosan For MMO's, they're technically never "finished". However for major MMO's like SWTOR and ESO, they have hundreds of millions behind them in pre-launch development alone, as well as over half a decade. They're technically never going to be "finished", but each time one launches everyone says, "Oh, if it had had 6 more months it would be fine!" despite the fact that that's never been proven to be the case.

MMO's have always relied on post-launch patches and updates...that's kinda what they do. This has nothing to do with the trend of modern games to do bug-fix patches or add DLC after launch, MMO's have been doing that for decades. MMO's, especially subscription based MMO's NEED post-launch content and bug fixes. Without them, they straight up die.

@rushiosan We'll see. That kind of blind optimism was around when SWTOR launched, for example, and it surely didn't help it. And SWTOR launched to stellar reviews.

While I definitely agree with many of the criticisms and much of the praise in this review, I can tell you right now that ESO fans are going to summarily dismiss it...and they're kinda right.

Only putting 40 hours into the game and getting to level 22 is not very much time for a MMO. You're still missing absolutely massive amounts of the games content, as well as whole other area's of the game such as adventure zones and veteran ranks. MMO's are massive, infinitely larger than single player games, even games like Skyrim. That means that to properly explore one for a review, it requires a ton of time.

That's the bitch about reviewing them. If you don't have hundreds of hours to sink into the review, there will be more of the game you haven't seen than there will be of what you have. That means you're still painting an incomplete picture of the game.

For example, you don't even mention veteran ranks, which are a huge part of ESO. They're what you work towards post-50, and are a requirement for further progression through the game, including the first adventure zone, Craglorn (which also isn't mentioned despite it being the first major update released nearly a month ago). Veteran ranks have been a point of contention for a ton of players, as many feel that it makes the game far too grindy and that post-50 quests in other factions zones don't reward enough experience to make them meaningful. That's a huge bit of the game and missing it in a review is doing readers no favors.

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a dick or be rude. But if you're going to review a MMO, it needs to be done properly, which means carving out a huge amount of time and really sinking your teeth into the game. Anything less is providing readers with an incomplete picture, and doing them a disservice.
