I'll get it when it's cheap. Final Fantasy games are still better than a million jrpg the industry churns from time to time. It has

True, but there are still other great JRPG's out there, like Ni No Kuni and Persona 4 Golden. Hell even Pokemon is awesome

Oh I lovwe Ni No Kuni! was crying towards the end because I didn't want it to end! But how often do we get jrpgs as good as Ni No Kuni?

Mostly all the MGS games. If Kojima could keep his pen off the paper and let someone else write a tense, realistic, special forces espionage tale without the ridiculous characters and unbelievable antics, and just concentrate on doing what he does best-gameplay-the MGS series would be amazing.

But instead we get these technical marvels of games that are RL accurate in military terms but are slogged down by absurdity and stupidity in every other aspect of their designs.

I came to a point where I can say the only reason I grabbed this game is because of Shinkawa's drawings. A guy living in another guy's arm....Nanomachines wasn't the explanation for that! As for the Last of US, I thought it was excellent and I was wrong to compare it to Uncharted. It's a game with a story that has you think about whether you've done the right thing. I'd hardly compare it to MGS. MGS is very poorly written and the supernatural aspect of the story made it worse for me.

Resonance of Fate's battle system made me not play it. It was unplayable.

Depends on what you want to do in the game industry, but if you want to directly work on a game school is good, but not good enough. You need to have experience, and need to have a few projects under your belt to show your abilities. This could be a artist showing off his art, a programmer showing off his app, game, etc. You could of course try to make a game company yourself, and get a business loan, but you need to make sure you know what you are doing or else you will just end up digging a hole that you may never get out of.

This.

Not only you have to be a programmer or artist, you need to be an exceptional artist and programmer as most studios look for a "senior" programmer, artist, animator..etc. You could also be neither and become a producer, the one who brings all talents together and offers the resources to make a video game.

Indie games don't earn the innovative or better than a big company's label just for the fact of being indie. The idea of making a video game independently, without any studio's support or help is to be your own boss. You make your own rules when it comes to the content of the game (still abide by laws of publishing though) deadlines, make every single decision concerning the project and team and that applies to all "indie" jobs out there.

Both games can be great and terrible. Of course it's easier to make a video game through a big company because of the resources but having all the requirements necessary doesn't mean a game will turn out great. Maybe it's not great on paper, maybe something went wrong with the execution.

@iamllamapie:

Vanquish was decent also.

I hope it sells enough that we see a third one.

I'm only getting WiiU to play Bayonetta 2 as well but gotta give credit when due, ninty is the most innovative in the industry with their console to portable machine. I hope system limitations don't affect the quality.

Lord of shadows was my first castlevania game, while I enjoyed it honestly expected it to be a little different than other action/adventure games out there. The game borrowed heavily from my ultimate favorite which is shadow of the colossus and that was unforgivable. It was boring and tedious and the bosses in SOTC were far more enjoyable than the ones in LoS. Besides sotc, it borrowed from God of War, and again, GOw was more challenging and more entertaining. LoS felt so rigid and linear. I loved the soundtrack and the backgrounds looked stunning. Story-wise, I don't feel like I was properly introduced. I still have no clue who the main guy is and why did he end up like that at the very end. The only case I'm buying this is when there are no games to play.

Just for fun you can read all their posts in ' thick snobby, valley-rich-person' accent. It'd be like your own personal version of feedbackula. ;)

lol.

I'm not very happy with the views of most gamers. A lot of gamers come off as intolerant and hateful. I can't help but feel some gamers opinions on things influence their choice of games. I doubt the users on GAF are different in that respect.
