I want to upgrade before the end of this year but have not too much about which video card. I am currently running a

Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2.13 Ghz

2 x 1 gig DDR2 667 RAM

256 MB 8600 GT DDR3

375 Watt Power Supply

I am thinking of upgrading to a 320 MB 8800 GTS but currently do not have the budget and possible the power. Is something like the 7950 GT worth the upgrade? I would like to play newer games 1280 x 1024 or higher with lots of AA and AF. Or should I wait until Nvidia releases their 8900/9800 series cards or a 8800 GTS pricedrop?

My budget is less than $200.

[QUOTE="ArisShadows"] 2.8 Ghz Pentuim 4 Processor

512 MB of RAM

Geforce FX 5200 (128 MB Graphic Card)

120 Gig HDD

Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio |B400| Sound Card

Dual Drives |CD Burn+ DVD Rom| (I should have gotten that DVDBurner XD)

Subwoofer

Its pretty decent, nowhere probably as good as some people. XD I probably will upgrade one of these days.ArisShadows

So how much upgrading would be needed anyways? xD

If you are on a budget than another 512 MB of RAM and somewhere along a 7600 GT would be not bad.

Think of making this PC - will cost around $550 (no monitor, input, or vista)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ @2.4Ghz 2 X 512 L2 Cache (this is just under $100 on newegg)

ATI Radeon X1950XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 (for $180)

2 gigs of RAM (for $70)

+ other stuff

1 - How long will this last more for (without upgrading video card or processor)?

2 - Will this run Vista w/ all the stuff?

3 - If you have any reccomendations for the above, tell me without going over $300 on the stuff above. If you can make it even cheaper without sacrificing lots of preformence, plz tell me too.

The under 700 (Vista included but not monitor, mouse,or keyboard) is for word processing, powerpoint, internet, music, and sending pics to friends thru AIM. I'm iffy on 1 gig because I will probably be running a lot of the applications above at once. I barely use lots of hard-drive space so less space means less money.

btw is $150 a lot for a case?

Never built a system before so need some help.

I NEED -

Either AMD Anthon 64 X2 or Intel Core 2 Duo processor (any kind - cheapest wanted)

Any Video Card that can run Vista Home Premium (don't use photoshop or play games)

Media Card Reader (the 8-in-1, 13-in-1, and 15-in-1 things)

2 GIGS RAM

DVD-ROM minimal

I WANT

DVD/CD Burner and Writer

Other

4 DIMM slots are asking for too much?

Anyone find this for under $700? (No keyboard, monitor, or mouse)
