The only thing making designing better games "harder" is an unimaginative and greedy industry that concerns itself with growing quarterly profits rather than making innovative and superior games. The technology maxim is: over time you get more for less. Games should be getting better AND CHEAPER as time goes on, it's an iterative process. So if you don't have idiots at work, while technology is constantly increasing the hardware capabilities, the software devs should be getting more and more efficient with their code because of their experience. Moore's Law is doubling transistors every 18 months, the software side should be making comparable gains, if not exceeding those since software is imagination based, not constrained by the physical properties of silicon. Devs should be inventing new software languages on a 5 year loop. Hardware guys aren't even designing chips with more than two logic states yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? It's getting "harder" because they aren't serious about putting the effort in.

this is hilarious. EA is shortsighted and greedy so they force the designers to break the franchise and betray all the fans of the series, then they wonder why sales are soft. if all the fanboi retards would stop preordering all these shitty games we'd actually see the industry start paying attention and making better games. but most consumers are so dumb they keep buying shit so the industry has no reason to get better faster.

The real problem is that there aren't any actual fans who love the movies making the games. Here's Gearbox blowing it by shoveling the game off on a subcontractor and then never checking in. Anyone who gave a damn about the movie, the game, or their own reputation wouldn't do that. The industry is out of control if this is how top developers are running their house.
There isn't a single person invested in this game, it's just another job. These aren't inspired artists, these are programmers putting in their time. So this is just a wank all the way around. This isn't how you make a good game, regardless of the IP.
Wow, I can't believe the management of Gearbox is so incompetent. They casually drop off 4 years worth of work with no instructions, since Timegate just threw it away. Then Gearbox didn't leave anyone at Timegate, like the primary Timegate team, or even ONE GUY to keep an eye on things. Then Gearbox didn't ask for any regular updates on this big, expensive, overdue project that has the name Gearbox on it? This company deserves to go down, that's absolute negligence.
Anyway, the larger issue of women in games is just a reflection of the sexism in the industry as a whole (PC/console hardware/software, game developer, game publisher, marketing) and lack of women in top tier decision making positions. Women aren't a demographic, they are more than half of the people on earth. When more women make games, more women will play games.
Here's what will happen: Sony is going to tell customers to suck it. They aren't going to allow used games because they want to make more money. Of course, they are supply-side economic morons who don't understand that when you lower the price, you sell more units and make more money up front, which would make the used games market question immaterial. It's not rocket science, unless you're stupid, short-sighted, and greedy like corporations generally are now. Oh right, sony'll get away with screwing customers over too because after an initial hissy fit no one will give a f*ck and they'll pony up the cash anyway because what other option is there?
@stan_boyd Zeschuk and Muzyka are responsible for the failure that is ME3. Is there anything to lament here? Those guys cashed in by selling out to EA and now they don't have to care anymore. It's obvious they stopped caring years ago when ME3 was in development.
looks like fun to me, I'm going to be playing it. Can't argue with the price. I count this as part of the ongoing apology for ruining the single player storyline.
@Dudester22 sorry, but John Wayne was a bigger cowboy actor than Clint Eastwood. And I've played a few hundred hours of BF heroes and never saw anything remotely wild west related. The maps are generally pastoral scenes from europe featuring the color green not a desert or the high plains the wild west genre normally suggests.
