@decoy1978 I'm sure that Nintendo will be devastated to hear that decoy1978 doesn't watch the Nintendo Directs live.

Most people have jobs and/or school and cannot watch all of the E3 pressers live. The same is to be expected from a Nintendo Direct. That's sort of the point of the video game press.

Nintendo WILL STILL BE AT E3! How are people not comprehending this? Everything they reveal in the Directs will be at E3! They will have many booths with playable games and they will have closed-doors meetings with the press and with business associates. The only thing that goes is the bloated press conference.

This literally is only going to have a significant effect on the gaming press.

How can you people really be this ignorant?

@Mkeegs79 @Stonecutters908 Really? Who sees something in Time about a video game console and is then moved to go buy it? Like MAYBE .01% of the people who read the article? It's not like it gets cover-story treatment, it's an afterthought for major publications. The vast majority of those at E3 are the IGN's and Gamespot's of the world. E3 is barely a blip on the radar for big media.

Nintendo DOES need to do a better job in their messaging and marketing to the non-gaming public, but E3 is not the end-all be-all for that goal.

This mostly effects the gaming press. The effect on everyone else is almost entirely non-existent.

@Vodoo Nintendo simply decided to forgo the large press conference. Which is, by the way, something that Sony and Microsoft will follow suit with within the next 3-4 years (as they tend to love to do everything Nintendo does, just way too late).

They will still be announcing new games, only via Nintendo Direct, as they have been doing for the past year or so. They will still have booths at E3 with playable demos. Hell, they're even having a closed-door meeting with the press. Literally the only thing that is changing is that they won't hold a bloated press conference. That's it. Anything else is your blatant ignorance and reading into nothing--making up something that simply isn't there at all.

Basically, you're the one with the preconceived notion about Nintendo, and you would apply these same arbitrary statements to anything they did. But, as they say, haters gonna hate.

@JOHN1486 They'll still show of all of their games and secrets, just directly to the fans and not with a huge conference that runs too long by about a half-hour.
