This is exactly what I'm wondering too. I have 2 young kids in the house and I cannot play till they go to bed. And my parents occasionally watch the game with me so I was in for a rude shock with very profane words being used. Now, I couldn't care less about it, but I browsed the menus to see if it could be turned off. It was jarring in the presence of my parents even though I'm a grown man with kids. The game itself is spectacular. I'd easily rate it a 9.9/10. It is freaking HUGE with loads of things to do. However, the black guy and Trevor scare me along with Michael's wife because I don't know what adult situation to expect in front of my parents. LOL.

It is kinda connected because of the whole Carolyn Petite review controversy.

After Jeff Gerstmann, I think Kevin Van Ord is the best reviewer in Gamespot. His reviews are almost always spot on match with what I'm thinking of the game as well and he has a very pleasing and engaging voice. On the female side, I think Jane Douglas has one of the best looks and voices for a review.

Not trying to put anything negative against Carolyn Petite because her review was her opinion and 9.0 is still an excellent score.

I'm just curious who the other gamers think are good reviewers.

What sort of an idiot would put a *spoiler tag and then put the spoiler right in the title. This needs to stop.

Interesting game, very kiddish but surprisingly annoying game with the bad controls. (And no, I don't "just suck" at gaming).

The controls are not precise. My rating 7/10 - would've been more fun had it not been for the poor control scheme.

Might've as well been playing this while on ice skates.

I pre-ordered The Last of Us based on the hype around here in Gamespot but I am happy to say this game is well worth my time. From the opening cinematics to the ensuing gameplay and graphic locales, I was hooked along with my captive audience - my father who was watching me play this game and following with interest in what transpires.

And the best part is I got it as my Father's day gift (but my kids are very young so we had to wait till they sleep first).

The story is downright amazing as well as the setup. This game reminds me a lot of the movie - The Road with bits of I Am Legemd, 28 days and few other zombie apocalyptic movies like - A boy and his dog, Night of the comet etc.

Ellie is perhaps the best conceived and acted character. She reminds me so much  of my own daughter, who is much younger than Ellie but shares some traits. Ellie is smart, strong but not arrogant nor vapid. The strong father daughter type bonding shown in the game is also engaging and endearing.

The situations they are put in are genuinely nerve wracking and tingling when you hide frantically because you have almost no ammo. Questions abound - do you shoot and get it over with losing your ammo or let it go and live to fight another day etc.

Seldom have games evoked such responses from me.

This game is a masterpiece IMO. My father and I are really enjoying playing and watching this game which is almost like a movie playing out.

My rating - 9.75/10

Graphics make a game. It is a vital and integral part of a gaming experience. Else, why bother? Just make tactile games with no display or text based RPGs or everyone play 8-bit pong instead of Virtua Tennis or Top Spin with their fluid animation. Your first input is typically a visual input and graphics is very important as per me. Hence I like 3D gaming as well. Others don't like it and it is fine. I happen to love 3D gaming and buy lots of 3D equipment for it. Now, that is only one component. There are other components to making a good game as well - gameplay, sound, story, replayability, experience, satisfaction etc. Some even consider monetary return value as well. Gaming is a personal journey - sometimes graphics don't bother you. Other times they do. There is no right or wrong for this. It is personal. Now, this game looks solid. My copy is awaiting me at home. Lets see what I rate it.

I like this genre as such - post apocalytic stuff. I also like fps's although I'm not crazy about it - I have played CoD. Recently purchased BF3 and am loving it. This game is a different experience - scenery moves slowly, more stealth and you can analyze and take in your surroundings etc. instead of twitchy fast pace of modern shooters. To each his own.

I downloaded the demo a while ago and only got around to playing it today. Is the full game like the demo - in that Kratos is show from a huge distance and most of the time, I didn't know where Kratos was because it was zoomed out too much.

I thought one of the guys I was fighting in a hanging tumbling box was Kratos till I saw that guy fly out to his death below and I thought I died but then I realized it wasn't me.

I'll skip the game if it is like this because the demo just seemed unimpressive. It looks like they wanted something epic but went too much on the epicness making me miss what was happening at ground level.

Picked it up at Target for $10. Fun entertainer for a lazy sunday afternoon. I got about a few hours enjoyment out of it which was perfect. Puzzles and hidden objects. They're all simple mostly save one or two head scratchers.

You won't get fancy graphics or anything, but overall, fun game.

7/10
