I agree with the ones who are saying that it depends on the genre.

FPS: West>East (Hands down, also has to with the fact that most FPSs are made in the West anyway)

TPS: West~East (Debatable)

Action: West<East (As mentioned by the OP, Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta are almost unmatched for their eras)

Platformer: West~East (Debatable, lots of great indie platformers vs the vast amount of godly Mario games)

RTS: West>East (Hands down, also has to do with the fact that most RTSs are made in the West anyway)

RPG: West~East (Debatable, both generally cater to different audiences ie. JRPGs and WRPGs)

Fighters: West<East (Hands down, also has to do with the fact that most Fighters are made in the East anyway)

Sandbox/Open World: West>East (GTA, Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row and most superhero games make it an easy win for the West)

Racing: West>East (While Forza and GT are neck and neck, arcade racing definitely goes to the West with games like PGR, Motorstorm, Wipeout, Blur, etc)

Sports: West>East (EA Sports is a juggernaut, enough said I think)

Horror: West>East (I think the lack of big horror titles this gen for the East makes it easy to lean towards the West who've come out with games like Amnesia and Dead Space)

Stealth: West~East (Debatable)

My two cents.

Well, most who have Forza 4 won't jump on Forza 5, considering the content is relatively less and that its on the Xbox One. Forza 6 though I think would be another great addition to the series if they don't get rushed again,

Probably a lot of people see this as good news but it irritates me. How many versions of SF4 are there going to be? 30.. 90?!!! I went ahead and upgraded after they released Super Street Fighter 4 but after they did it again (And now they're doing it yet again) I said screw it.

Wickerman777

they are updates not new games

you don't have to buy the dlc if you don't like the characters

download the balance patch and carry on using your disk its just like many other games that have dlc to keep game feeling fresh

Feeling fresh? That would be OK if they weren't trying to hit you up for another $15 213 times after you bought the game already.

Would you rather let them leave the game alone? It's not like they didn't put any work into them. There's a reason that SF4 has such a huge following.

I hope its a new motorstorm even though its unlikely if they first opted to go the PGR route. Man, I loved Motorstorm: PR, best gaming moments of this gen was from that racer. Too bad Motorstorm: Apoc didn't get to catch the same type of adrenaline.

I think its quite silly to think that Sony is out of touch with their consumers just because of this. This TV isn't for just any average consumer, this TV is targeted at the people who can afford it because it is a novelty. Seriously, is everybody in here that dense? And to the guy saying they wasted money on the R&D? You think 3D or HD was affordable when it came out and it just appeared out of this air? And this is very different from Sony stupidly pricing the ps3 too high. The ps3 is a games console that is targeted at us who earn a decent living whereas this 4k TV is targeted at the people who can afford wasting their money on stuff like huge TVs. Its not like with this TV coming out, their other much cheaper TVs have just disappeared from the market for the average consumer to buy. Sorry for not jumping into the bandwagon and using my brain.

Wow, just because he's in the ps3 camp and has made some games void of gameplay doesn't mean what he said isn't true. With a new IP, sky's the limit but with a sequel, there are certain expectations that you have to meet as a developer. Of course, sequels have their merits but you can't deny that new IPs are the ones pushing the creativity and innovation in the games industry

Give the people what they want, not what you think they want. Instant win.

For God's sake, ignore the score. Anyone who has the game now knows that this "complex learning curve" last for 5 minutes. Cows should take the review score and deal with/ignore it, and everyone should realize that GS is the 3rd worse website for reviews.

Or they have their own opinions which is no worse than anyone else.

Unless its an uneducated opinion. Those are definitely lesser than educated opinions. I'm not saying this review is either but just want to point out some opinions do weigh more than others depending on the subject matter and the person giving the opinion.

Good thread on this. And I agree that gaming journalism is what it is now because its audience doesn't really care as long as they live in their hype filled world.
