Yeah, I agree with everyone you said including the modern GHZ music... it could of been a lot better. As far as now being able to compare the two play styles side by side, that's something that a lot of people have been saying since the gameplay was shown. The contrast is really right there in your face now with this game. I hope that after this game comes out, user feedback and reviews will heavily slant in favor of classic gameplay and the classic Sonic model, then maybe brand new games in the future will be influenced in that direction. After watching the extended footage, it's almost humorous how this game, by splitting it up into "classic" and "modern" sections, pretty much shows exactly why modern Sonic typically doesn't work, and how Sonic Team has completely missed the point of what made the classics so good.
Notice how the classic game isn't moving at an insane speed and is more methodical in its approach? Then notice how the modern version is pretty much the complete opposite. Despite the emphasis on "fast", classic Sonic games were never about going forward non-stop at incredible speeds, and in fact you were often punished for trying to do so. Somewhere along the line, though, Sonic Team got it in their head that this was what Sonic was about, and completely ignored the slower, more deliberate platforming aspects of the games.
Watching those two videos back to back never formed a clearer picture of where Sonic Team got off track. I'm still interested in the game for the redone classic stages, however...
Oh, and the music for the modern version is just bleh. I've heard plenty of modernized remixes of classic Sonic tunes, and none of them sounded as bad as that.
