TLDR: Aside from RPGs, what upcoming 3DS games that feels deep, immersive, console like quality and not shallow, spinoff, short gameplay bursts games? I'm not a huge fan of zelda.

==========================================================

I apologize for the wall of text.

After my 2 Nintendo DS lite broke, I stopped handheld gaming completely, I am pretty careful on handling my gaming devices since I have a tight budget. I didn't buy the DSi and the normal 3DS. I would love to come back to handheld gaming again but there are a few things which is holding me back. I'm really worried that I might get the hinge crack, dead pixel and the dead top screen problems again if I decided to go with 3DS XL. How durable is the 3DS XL compared to the Nintendo DS lite and the normal 3DS?

Another thing that's holding me back are the games...wait what?. Yes, my experiences with DS lite led me to believe that most games for Nintendo's newest handheld are just shallow, spin offs, lacks immersion or for small bursts of gaming. I don't own Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3. I would like to make the handheld that I'll be choosing be my main gaming device. Most of the games I played in the Nintendo DS lite felt lacking in a way that's hard for me to explain.

The point is, I'm leaning towards the Playstation Vita and I am not asking anyone to convince me hard enough to get back to the Nintendo bandwagon. Some simple feedback about how deep the games are when it comes to gameplay, replayability, online and content will do.

Nintendo 3DS Games that interests me: Castlevania games, Animal Crossing, Dead or alive, real Pokemon games(I'm deeply disappointed with version 2), Super Mario 3D land and Luigi's mansion.

Playstation Vita Games that interests me: Dragon's Crown, Muramasa: Demon blade and some other games not really worth mentioning. Now I know that the Vita is extremely lacking in games and it looks like a dangerous investment, but the look and high quality FEEL of those 2 games impacted me enough to consider Vita as a choice.

I've read everything here, Gravity rush looks really good, the fighting games are okay as long as there will be online play, Ragnarok odyssey I'll probably just wait for some reviews because the game doesn't feel like the way it should be, god eater and soul sacrifice looks interesting and lastly project diva and djmax is fine i guess, but I use my pc for rhythm games. There isn't really enough games that will excite me more so I'll have to think about it with my tight budget before jumping in the Playstation bandwagon.

I highly appreciate the recommendations, so thanks to everyone.

EDIT: I just found out about the 250$ bundles that's coming, are they worth the price? Oh and I'm aiming for the assassins creed bundle one because sports and FPS doesnt appeal to me that much. @Slashkice who is the girl in your banner?

Hello, I'm a long time Nintendo gamer - ending at the NDS lite and my last Playstation device was the PS2. I'm a bit clueless as to what games are coming out for the Vita which is what's holding me back from buying it.

The games I'm really interested at right now are Dragon's Crown, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Picotto Knights, Little King's Story. I think almost all of them will come out in 2013 which is sad. Ranting is not the point of this thread so...what big high quality titles can I expect for the Vita? Is there a chance that Dead or Alive 5, Tekken, Soul calibur will come out?. I'm mainly aiming for games that's morethan 20 hours of gameplay and or has a good amount of replay value. I know that we are all still wondering about upcoming games, but I'm hoping that there will be games that's on the PSP and will have a sequel for the Vita. Problem is, I only played 2 games for like 30minutes each on my friend's PSP(monster hunter and metal gear) and the rest I dont know.

I really, REALLY do not give a **** about modern FPS/TPS(except metal gear) games unless I'm playing as a girl in school uniform with thigh high socks and high heels in third person.

----------------------------------------------------

Games/genre I'm not interested at:

Uncharted

Little big planet

Racing games

Sports games except the Hotshot golf thingy and the Fish on next.

==================

Games/genre I like:

JRPG

Fighting games except mortal combat and marvel vs capcom.

Multiplayer games but it depends on what kind.

------------------------------

TLDR: What big high quality 20 hours+/good replay value Vita titles can I expect. Thank you!

I pick games depending on player reviews, I dont read the official reviews, but I still look at the good and bad from them. Player reviews tend to be more of an honest experience and most of the time it has deeper content than the official ones. I sometimes get a game because of the hype and the only one I have that really dropped the ball IMO is Stronghold 3.

You know some companies spend millions to alter the user reviews?

Players will often express anger when something from a game they love gets butchered and that's not just 1 review. I look at multiple reviews from players and it is much easier to decide on that. I check the forums too just to be sure.

No matter how good or bad the game is, there will always be a ton of reviews by normal players and often they share the same feelings towards the game which is far more reliable than official reviews.

Not to sound like a troll, I played a fully modded oblivion for hundreds of hours and it became the best gaming experience of my gaming life. Skyrim came and I was so excited, after about 2 hours I got bored and never played it again.

Skyrim felt empty, maybe I was just spoiled by the mods. When construction kit comes out and mods starts pouring like crazy, I will definitely be addicted to it just like in oblivion. Until then, Skyrim will remain a snorefest.

I like the game but the optimization is TERRIBLE.

Freak2121GTAF

This is my current probem right now but im hoping the modding community can do something about it like stutter remover or optimized textures etc.

Have you tried Shogun 2 total war yet?

Never EVER buy stronghold 3, the game is like an unfinished money trap.
