Best Characters of the year

alright so Ive decided "wow Shindiggah you sit here making this level blog and you gotta do some more stuff too for your lovely readers (thats right you guys are my lovelies now feel free to be creeped out ;) ) so as I sat in my little room thinking and thinking I have decided to grace you al with which characters the almighty Shindiggah has decided are the best of the best new characters this year, this mainly goes in terms of character design and personality, so theres always a good chance of me getting a character in here who despite being in a lackluster game just looked pretty sexy awesome.

Soo without further ado lets meet our sexy character models 8)

Ezio AUditoire de firenze-Assassins Creed 2

ezio ezio ezio oh where do I start with this bad *** mo fo. Well for starters, hes probably the first assassin that not only will kill your dad, but will get it on with your sister, steal your gold, and do it all with a smile on his face. Plus the fact that just look at the guy, his costume practically screams awesome, I think its quite obvious why he is one of the best new characters of 09.

Now you may all be saying "Mordecai, but there was hardly any dialogue in Borderalnds, why would one of them win it" Well me pickin Mordecai was for one simple very easy (even for the most noobiest of gamespot posters, which of course anyone commenting on my blog is not since your awesome enough to know that I rock ;) ) reason. His design is just so amazing. Everything about his design is just so detailed and amazing, imo it is far more detailed then any of the other characters. Plus theres the fact that it seems much more unique then the othes, I mean you got LIlith the hot chick, Brick, the tough ripped guy, Roland the stereotypical soldier, and Mordecai...the man wearing a mask weilding a katana with a gigantic vulture on his shoulder (called a blodwing officially but for all those who havent played Borderalnds it resembles a vulture the most at least imo)

Dr Nefarious: Ratchet and Clank Future Crack in Time

yeah yeah, I know he didnt TECHNICALLY come out this year as he was also in Ratchet and Clank UP Your Arsenal a few years back on the PS2. But come on, you cannot have a list of awesome characters and disclude one of the greatest villians ever, Doctor Nefarious. I mean just look at the guy. he an effing lunatic. Everything from his moovements, to his dialogue just screams awesome, and is amazing. Plus theres the fact that he will randomly spurt out scenes from ****ic Soap Opera moments, and just his whole design being amazingly polished and cool lookign is good enough for me to have the Doctor make my list.

YOur Squad-Halo 3 ODST

Now, this is the only group of characters to have made it into my blog, but that is because of the fact that alone, these characters are nothing special, theyre funny, and witty, but nothing super special. What makes them realy come together and bring on the laughs and depth to there design is when you see how they interact with each other as a group, Bungie really did a great job with this, as they harass, mess with and tease each other all the time throughout the campaign ,and manage to add a nice light twist of humour to an otherwise dark and foreboding game experience.

well these are all I got for my fav characters of the year for now, wanna know whay? Ill give you a hint its because IM sometihing that starts with an L and ends with an -azy.

OMG Nevermind I forgot one vital man that NEEDS to be on this list, posibly the most epic character of the year......

The claptraps possibly one of the most iconic, most hilarious, most bad*** mutha ******* dudes Ive seen this entire gen, and is possibly the only guy epic enough to warrant a sentence of such stature as the one seen above. KNEEL TO THE CLAPTRAP PITIFUL MORTALS AND RESPECT HIS SUPER SEXY AWESOMNESS

Most memorable Levels of 09

well I suppose this is a sorta continuation of my GOTY, except theres no nomines or winners, I just name stuff that I thought was cool in 09, and ill start out with levels I suposse...

The Great Clock: Ratchet and Clank Future CIT

Arid BadlandsBorderlands

New Mombasa Night: Halo 3 ODST

Distortion Zone: Pokemon Platinum

Venice: Assassins Creed 2

oh and another thing, just to ask you guys, am I the only one that finds Gamespot cutting images off in blogs very annoying? I mean seriously, I have to shirnk pics down so much jsut to get them to fit that you tend to lose the epicness of the pic :/

Thank you Gamespot :D

Thanks for the harry potter Note book, and Bionic commando necklace thing.

I dont know what IM going to do with the notebook, I may use it as a reviewers guid and write down little notes about games iM playing as I play them for review.

And the necklace is already in a perfect spot, I hung it up on my TV right next to my Brutal Legend poster I recieved from XBM, and my Gears 2 VIP pass from when I got to play amutiplayer betaof Gears 2 with several members of slipknot back in september of '08:D

E74 erro

so yep, right after I post my Game of the year blog, and 2 effing days before christmas my 360 decides to have the E74 error. God. That realy ticks me off. All I can do is pray that most of my gifts this year are on the PS3 I guess lol, or for at least I month all my christmas gifts will have no use but to be paer weights for me >.>

GOTY 2009 awards

Best open world game:

is without a doubt the greatest open world game of the year, everything about it is amazing, from the graphics and gameplay, to the story and missions. This game truly does grasp the open world genre by the horns and takes you for a ride.

Honorable Mention: [Prototype]

Best Action Adventure.

Assassin's Creed 2

Assassins Creed 2 is by far one of the most gripping and addictive games I've played this generation, it sports lush graphics, amazing characters, and a great story with lots of action, which are all elements that are, when added together properly, used to make an amazing action adventure game like Assassin's Creed 2.

Honorable Mention: Uncharted 2

Best FPS

Borderlands is everything and more that you can possibly want in an FPS, nice graphics, a lot of guns, cool bad guys. And blood, Lots, and lots of blood. Add in the fact that the game has an amazing RPG and open world feel to it, plus witty dialogue and great humor, and you got yourself a great winner for this category.

Honorable mention: Modern Warfare 2

Best DLC game

Battlefield 1943

Despite the fierce competition of amazing titles such as Flower, and Shadow Complex, Battlefield 1943 truly managed to shine through in a display of what can truly only be described as epic game play. With great graphics, addictive gameplay, and amazing online (provided it IS all online) you really cannot go wrong with battlefield, whether you are a veteran to the FPS genre, or a casual looking for a quick game.

Honorable mention: Flower

Best Racing Game

Forza 3

There was no doubt in my mind that Forza 3 was the clear winner of this title, not only is it an amazing racing game, it is also an amazing DESIGNING game, Forza 3 features one of the most detailed and amazing design engines in a game I have ever seen. You can literally make almost every car. Everything about this game also just screams amazing, from graphics, to gameplay, to the online marketplaces, heck even the games MENUS are fun to browse.

Honorable mention: Dirt 2

Best 360 game
Halo 3 ODST

Sadly for most 360 gamers this year was a very slow year for the popular console. Yet, amidst all the muck and nothingness, shone one bright star. A sequel to the consoles most famous franchise, ODST delivers hard, offering both amazing gameplay, great atmosphere and addictive online, even the most hardcore of fanboys can have a hard time saying that this game is truly one to be missed.

Honorable mention: Forza 3

Best PS3 Game:

Uncharted 2

When I first picked up my controller and began playing Uncharted 2, the first word uttered out of my lips was "wow" Which truly does sum up everything about this game, from the best console graphics we've seen since Killzone 2 and Gears 2, too some of the best gameplay this gen has ever seen, this game is truly one for the books, and it definetly wins the reward as PS3 game of the year.

Honorable Mention: Ratchet and Clank Future Crack in Time

Best Wii game:

New Super Mario Bros Wii

Sadly, just like the 360 the wii has fallen upon some dark times in terms of quality titles this year, and also similarly to the 360, the starving console has turned to its most popular franchise to bring it out of its ditch. Mario bros Wii, is truly a great experience, and I know one of the best platformers I've played in a LONG time. Add in a great 4-player co op experience and you have yourself an obvious choice for the Wii's game of the year.

Honorable mention: Muramusa The Demon Blade

Best DS game

Pokemon Platinum

I know a lot of people are going to hate me for this one, and quite frankly IM mad at myself that I'm allowing simply a port intended to milk more money out of consumers is being named my best DS game of the year. But the thing is, this. Game. Is. Amazing. Pokemon Platinum manages to take all the little problems in Diamond and Pearl and fix them up, polish up the graphics a bit, add a LOT of new mini games and missions which add HOURS of enjoyment onto the game, while still retaining thecla-sic pokemon charm. Despite how much I hate greedy corporations, and milked franchises, not even I can deny the clas-sand charm of this amazing RPG title.

Honorable mention: Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks

Best PSP game:

Prinny: Can I really be the Hero?

Prinny can I really be the hero really shows that the PSP is more then a shallow ended weaker graphic version of the consoles. Prinny manages to blend in an amusing story, with some of the greatest characters I've seen this whole entire generation, plus great gameplay, and some of the most artistically beautiful graphics I've seen this entire gen, all while managing to fit on the hardware limitations of the portable market. And it is for these reasons that I feel it without a doubt deserves the award of best PSP title.

Best Graphics

Uncharted 2

I think it is quite obvious that I would pick this as having the best graphics, and well to be honest, quite frankly, if you thought I would pick something else then you need to get your eyes checked. Not Only does Uncharted 2 sport the best visuals this year, it is also unarguably the most impressive looking console game we've seen this entire gen, everything about it is almost life like, and incredibly polished. There is no doubt in my mind that Uncharted 2 deserves the reward for best graphics this generation.

Honorable Mention: Assassins Creed 2

Most Dissapointing game:
Tony Hawk Ride:

So now, why would I name this my most disappointing game of the year? Well, for one Microsoft practically spent a half an hour during there whole E3 presentation calling this game the best thing since sliced bread. Plus the fact that I myself used to be a huge tony hawk fanboy (pro skater FTW!) and the fact that at E3, to be honest it really didn't look half bad at all. Now, I have no clue what went wrong in the six months between E 3 and now, but whatever it is I want to kill activision for basically stomping on my childhood and burying its remains.

Game of the Year:

Now, before I name the game of the year I would just like to say, like always this has been an amazing year for both me, and video gamers in general, and that I personally LOVED all of the nominees in the above and below games (with the exception of you Tony Hawk Ride, you can still go kill yourself.) SO I would just like to say that picking this game of the year was an intense decision that required lots of brain power, thinking, and several rounds of eenie meenie minie moe. And it is without further ado that I announce the winner of my Game of the Year:

Uncharted 2

Just looking at Uncharted 2, it is for many obvious reasons why it wins my game of the year. For one the voice acting and story are both phenomenal, and near perfection. Plus the fact that it has top notch graphics, plus gameplay epic to the scale that it seemed like almost every single level was completely breathtakingly unique, and it all fit together amazingly.

Honorable mention: Borderlands

Well…I suppose this is all for now, however I will include a small bonus for you, I am going to list off my top five most hyped games for 2010, which is already being predicted by many analysists and gamers like myself, as being one of the best years for video games we've seen in a LONG time.

My top 5 most hyped games for next year are:

5. Last Guardian(PS3)

4. Final Fantasy 13(PS3/360)

3. Alan Wake (360)

2. 3D Dot Hero(PS3)

  1. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

GOTY Nominees.

GOTY Blog 001

Well first off, IM sorry for that weird debate thing I posted earlier, things for that idea didn't really work out as I had wanted so, I decided IM just going to be an uncreative little twit and do the less unique thing and just post a regular ol goty blog.

Now, This right now is just a preview of the blog (which should be released in about a weeks time, I am taking finals this week, so naturally my schedule is a bit tight on time to be visiting forums J ) But basically right now Im going to introduce all the categories, and say the games that are being nominated by me, now while I am not doing full voting this year, you can still voice your opinions on what you want to win, and I may just read your comments and take user input on what to pick ;)

GOTY Debate Blog #1: Best Open World Adventure

first a bit of explaining, this year for goty IM doing things a bit more uniquely, for each category me and my friend Anthony/Dcpc10 are going to starta debate about each category, then I will let you guys finish and post your opinionss on who thought should win, then in the end I will post alll the winners in one giant blog, so heres the first debate (Im Shindiggah)

Shindiggah says:

Fine, INfamous vs. Prototype lets start

why do you say infamous

Anthony says:

as someone that has played both

Shindiggah says:

I played both too

Anthony says:

infamous is far more complete in terms of attention to detail in story, presentation, gameplay

prototype is larger in scale but lacks detail that is required to be a memorable experience

infamous has extremely memorable moments and will def. come off as nostalgia by the end of the gen

to me, prototype came off as ''just another game''

Shindiggah says:

see that is where I disagree with you, while true the graphics in infamous are much better then those found in Prototype, I feel that the WAY that prototype delivers and shows itself make it far more unique and memorable then infamous

I mean it basically gives you this gigantic island, and takes things back a step, you can be anyone or anything, plus the fact that it basically gives you millions of things to do and just says GO to me is quite amazing

Anthony says:

i disagree, prototype runs off the technology behind games like the incredible hulk game xD its not that unique in any way

Shindiggah says:

Infamous it almost felt at times like the missions were "work" in prototype they felt like a game

Anthony says:

but in infamous every part of the enviroment has some amazing detail to it

Shindiggah says:

Im not saying it is unique, IM saying that all together with the way the story is told, your characters design, and the setting they al add up to a nice experience

Anthony says:

i felt the complete opposite in prototype

Shindiggah says:

ANd the environments in prototype imo were also amazing, true there were a few areas that were plain, but overall it all felt unique in its own way

Anthony says:

i felt like prototype had ''go there do that'' type missions

while infamous made me feel like i was following a deep and engaging story while completing missions

the buildings looked really dull and the ai was really lacking in prototype, infamous builds on both of those ideas

Shindiggah says:

but the thing is that the way the story is told in prototype is told far differently then in Infamous, basically infamous follows a straight flat out plot, while prototype, yea you find out stuff by completing missions, but the true depth of the story underneath wat you see is found by exploring, and playing the game in your own way

plus theres the fact that actually being Alex Mercer, to me was much more fun then being Cole, basically I felt that the whole of NYC was mine, I could explore wherever, I had all these super amazing powers accessed to me and a gigantic playground to unleash them in. Things felt a lot more tame and slower in Infamous

Anthony says:

same with infamous

you can find radio messages, and notice people in the city react differently whether you're evil or good

along with the whole main story arc itself

Shindiggah says:

but thats just a reaction, in Prototype the way the story is told is found literally by how you play the game, and where you choose to explore and what you destroy

Anthony says:

and btw

even Jeff Gerstmann said anyone who likes prototype better is completely clueless

Shindiggah says:

thats nice lol I like Infamous, but I still do prefer prototype, and my opinion doesnt always have to= his

plus theres the fact that imho, prototype's combat offers a much deeper satisfaction then Infamous's, I mean call me strange but the way and movements Alex makes and the peoples fear and reactions at how he attacks them is just amazing

sorry if things got a bit confusing folks, but this is an actual argument lol not just typed up by me ;)

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta Impressions

lol, I know ive been having quite a few blogs about this kinda stuff lately, but its because theres been a lot going on :P

The only word that can be used to describe the beta for Bad Company 2 is disapointing. I have been super hyped for htis game since its announcement, but all I can say now is that I PRAY that this beta is not an accurate sampling of what the full game is like. ALmost everything seemed extremely annoying. First off, the graphics were terrible, now I understand that the game is not due until late next year, so theres a chance that a lot of what I saw were either undetailed or just filler textures, but the point is that they were terribly bland and quite frankly, stung my eyes to look at. ANother complaint is that you move extremely slow in all ways, you walk/run slow, you aim slow, and you reload slowly, IDK if there are settings to fix this but all I know is that at there default the controls are horrendous. Plus the fact that the menus are so miniscule with there text that you almost need a magnifying glass to see the words, just makes thisbeta very disapointing and I pray taht the game can be much more well made by the time it is released next year so it is not a disapointment to the awesomness that is the battlefield name,

Bayonetta Beta impressions

well I just finished playing through the Bayonetta beta/demo (whatever you want to call it :P) and I must say that I am quite impressed. The game delivers both graphically, action wise and control wise. ALl the animations are fluid, and from what I could tell from this beta the story is deep and well told yet twisted with some good humour and qwirky in game remarks. It shows all the quality and then some of its creators previous titles (Okami, Resident Evil 2 etc.) and is a truley great game.

Hopefully, if the full game delivers as well as this beta has I think we can be expecting another great AAA to be hitting our wallets hard early 2010.
