I love Steam for its cheap prices and great community support, but the steam DRM gets on my t!ts so much... nothing's more disgusting than the obvious distrust Valve has of their fans.

So it's gotta be Gog. Steam is great for more modern games you can't get elsewhere, but I will take any source (ANY SOURCE) over steam if it doesn't have DRM. Maybe its just the antisocial me, but if I'm paying for a product I want you to leave me the f*ck alone to enjoy that product once you have my money.

And I never pirate games. I've modded a lot to get around sh!tty and broken DRM coming from places like Gamersgate, but I paid for every game I have.

O.K., I owe you a huge one. I tried out lowering the bitrate down to 400 for a 5 minute clip, and didn't notice any quality change. I though nothing must have changed, but when I checked the size, it had dropped around 1/3 of it's size, from 40 MBs down to 27. I'll do this for everything I've done already, and should free up over 1 gigabyte of space. I owe you big, fynne.

Thanks, I'll try that. What my friend was doing though, was using a DVD ripping program like handbrake (ripping into a format for the PSP) and then using ALLOK as a seperate program to compress the video. When he showed me the difference, I literally could not notice.

Hey everyone,

I know this one is rather specific, but I'm sure someone out there has a good answer for me. I've been lately ripping DVDs to put on my PSP, and I just did The Dark Knight a couple days ago. (I legally bought all the DVDs I've ripped in my life, just so no one gets angry at me.) Anyway, handbrake is an awesome program for ripping DVDs on the mac, the quality is awesome and it only takes an hour or two. (MUCH faster then some other rippers I've tried that result in similar quality.) The problem is that the file sizes I get are absolutely ridiculous. The Dark Knight was about 1.22 gigabytes, and I know I don't have to tell you how annoying it is to fit onto a PSP memory stick.

Anyway, getting the point here, my friend showed me some movies he ripped off of DVDs and then compressed using ALLOK video converter. The quality was just about the same as I'm getting with handbrake, but a 2 1/2 hour movie takes about 350 megabytes of space on his, compared the the 1.22 gigs on mine.

Unfortunately, ALLOK is only available for windows. This mac is the only computer I own, so that's no good for me. I was hoping someone knew of a good, free video compression software for Macs. I know we're a strong minority, so don't bother telling me that. Just check anything you guys know about and get back to me on whether they have a mac version. I tried looking for a while on my own, but after my computer found and stopped a third virus I figured I kind of suck at looking for things like this. Thanks a ton to everyone in advance, especially those who took the time to read this gargantuan post!

I've been wanting this in english. Anyone notice how selfish Japan is with it's games? For example, all the best PS one games are available on the japanese PSN, but not in America. Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII are just 2 examples. Kind of weird, when you consider American games like TFU are released around the world within a week of release just about anywhere. (I realize there are exceptions to every rule, don't bother pointing those out. It just seems like Japan tends to be rather selfish, especially with their older games.)

Just tried downloading something, and wanted to give an update. They still do use the wallet system, but now 5.99 can be added if all you want is a PS game. Not quite what I had hoped for, but about close enough. If anyone knows of future plans about the PSN and the wallet system, please still post them. I'm still hoping they get rid of it entirely, especially if the PSP 2 is going to be download only. :( (I'm fine with UMD's, personally.)

I noticed when downloading Patapon 2 that it didn't charge me any extra like it does for other games. Basically, it stopped making me use the wallet. I was wondering (and hoping) that this would be perminate, for everything, not just Patapon 2. Does anyone know if the wallet is history, or if there are plans to make it so? It'd make my week, and I'd probably buy from the PSN twice as much. Thanks a ton in advance to anyone who knows. :)

I thought Phoenix534's comment made sense.

Anyway, I just think sony should do what I describe back on page 2. It sound's perfect to me. What do you all think? (PLEASE Sony, DON'T GO ALL DOWNLOAD! I WILL HATE YOUR GUTS IF YOU DO!!!) The only reason why I think my idea for the PSP 2 wouldn't be good is it might have too short a battery life, the PSP battery life is already bad enough, and a full disk slot might make it worse. But, then again, batteries have improved quite a bit since the PSP came out. (Back in 2005, I think. :?)

Why doesn't sony just keep the UMD, slap the system with some extra power, better graphics and the usual, and give us 2 better quality analog sticks? That's all anyone really wants. Internal memory would be nice too, although I would ask for that last. I find it sad that my Ipod has more memory then both of my PSP Memory sticks combined, and I've only got an 8 gig ipod. (6 gigs with both of my PSP mem. sticks.)

By the way, could you give us an example please, Getix-01. Thanks. :)

I find the PSP too small... It's uncomfortable to hold in my hands without the bulky case I have to protect it. Then again, I have big hands.

I was thinking about full disks because that's what made sony popular in the first place. Plus, being able to play any PS 1 games without having to pay an additional $6-10 would be a big help in my mind. I like small, but I like functionality and versatility over tiny size any day. Plus, if the system were larger, they could give it more power. Imagine playing the PS2 version of The Force Unleashed on the PSP 2 instead of the scaled down PSP version. I think it'd be awesome, but maybe thats just me.

Here's a picture of that oversized case, if you're wondering.

P.S. Does anyone know why I'm having trouble copying and pasting into a reply? I have to open Microsoft word, paste the URL into there, then grab and drag it into the reply window.
