Either being shot by a drug dealer hiding behind a couch in GTAIV or getting STAMPEDED from behind by a beserker in Gears 1, or going into a roll-dodge thing and accidentally doing this in the direction of the stampeding beserker. I'll go with the Gears deaths because that games so much better then GTAIV.

I liked 2 more. I never played ME1 and did not even have the technological capabilities to do so until ME2 came out (no 360 until a few months ago and, well, PC, don't even get me started on that. I tried to go back and play ME1 after 2. The story seemed awesome but then I found myself driving around these long winding maps in the POS mako. I tried a few times to get into it but I hated the Mako so much I decided to go back and play the leftover side missions and the DLC for ME2 in order to keep leveling up my character. As you might guess given my frustration with the land vehicles, I am not a big fan of whatever that paper airplane thing is in the Firecracker DLC or whatever its called. I sure hope they don't make that a mandatory gameplay element of ME3.

SNES because of how much I was into gaming at that time and the types of games I enjoyed playing at that time. Given my gaming interests now it would probably have been PS2 for its awesome game library and the variety of games available on that platform. But while I had a PS2 I was finishing high school and completing college, and was not playing as many games as I did before or after that time.

Same problem as everyone else here. No RAPTR, no paid membership, same problem with Firefox and IE. Gamespot put the Guitar Hero 3,000 or whatever reviews away for a bit to fix this, thanks.

I only had two games when I first got my PS3 in early summer of 2008 -- GT Prologue and NHL 08. I played those games a bit that summer, particularly NHL, but then basically did not play anything until Heavy Rain came out (this happened to coincide with the time that I passed my PhD qualifying exams and completed my teaching requirements). After HR, I added FFXIII, Resonance of Fate, Uncharted 2, and GTA Episodes from Liberty City to my collection. That should be enough to keep anyone occupied. But I like games so much that I also purchased a 360 -- not because I tired of PS3 but because I just like variety and the option to play whatever consoles games I want whenever I feel like it. 360 has some awesome exclusives as well and I would not be disappointed with owning either system over the other. I like what I have read about Valkyria here and elsewhere and might want to get that game. But I have not spent much of my gaming time playing Resonance of Fate so am not sure if another Sega RPG is the best choice for me. Has anyone played Valkyria Chronicles and also Resonance of Fate? How do the two compare? If Valkyria Chronicles is better I could see selling my Resonance of Fate and putting it towards my Valkyria purchase.

Alan Wake is awesome. I have not played SC2 but want to as soon as it comes out in retail. Although this is a 360 forum, this is an SC2 related string so might as well ask. . . What exactly are the system requirements for SC2? I know they are posted on Blizzard's support website (even though I do not think they are posted on the official SC2 website yet). But I am not sure exactly what this means (which, by the way, I think is a weakness of PC gaming in general as compared to consoles). Would a Sony E series with their ATI GPU configuration have enough juice to run this on mid to high graphics settings? Or do I need to get something more expensive? The only games I really want to play on PC are SC2, Sims 3, and possibly Diablo III and WoW series.

Of those games I have and am currently playing its Mass Effect 2. I do not have Red Dead Redemption (yet) but I have no desire buying that while I'm hooked on ME2. Also, although this is a 360 forum, I might as well mention that Heavy Rain was a game that could fit into this category for me. But I cannot compare HR to ME2 since I finished the former before even having a 360. I would consider ME2 worth owning a 360 for (sure, you can play on PC, but 360 is way cheaper and I have heard that its online gaming is just as good for most purposes; have not yet used XBL myself). So far, I love the story, and I especially love how the game combines RPG with FPS. I also like customizing the characters and interacting with the cut scenes. To me the best part of this game is that it will have a short interactive cut scene followed by some "movie" scenes, followed by a short action sequence, back to movie and story, etc. So I am always entertained and don't get bored with a long progression of game play or with a long story. I *might* consider putting down ME2 to take a break and play another game for a bit -- those games are Final Fantasy XIII, Alan Wake, and Uncharted 2. The *relative* weakness of those games (IMHO) as compared to ME2 is that all three of them have long game play sequences followed by long cut scenes rather than rotating more quickly alternating between the two. This is important because it makes the story more connected to the game play. In FFXIII, Alan Wake, and Uncharted 2 sometimes switching back to the story after a long series of game play either results in my not paying as much attention to the story as I would otherwise want to, or conversely getting myself more into a combat/action mode and forgetting the underlying story during a long battle. I also saw Saboteur mentioned on this board. I also really like that game. The problem is that its game play is a bit awkward at times and the story is not as deeply developed as it could be. There are so many awesome games out there for both consoles that I think one could reasonably purchase either or both consoles based on a single game. ME2, Alan Wake, and FFXIII for 360; U2, Heavy Rain, and FFXIII for PS3.

I am enjoying playing this game. I really liked Heavy Rain and so far Alan Wake seems like a similar game to me. The story is not as good but its more exciting because it the game play is more interactive and varied than in Heavy Rain. I love the satisfaction that comes with finishing an episode, watching beautiful cut scenes with an interesting story, and listening to the songs at the end of the chapters.

Sometimes I think that PC games as a whole are outdated. Consoles have a wide selection of a variety of great games. I have a PS3 and 360 but do not want to spend what I could use to buy a lot of console games on a machine that can play games that were just ported from consoles anyways.

1. Mass Effect 2 - designing your own character, customizing storyline in cut scenes, very nice combination of RPG and FPS gameplay 2. Alan Wake - similar feel to Heavy Rain but with more traditional combat element 3. Splinter Cell - good FPS and platforming game play, but superficial story (at least so far, have not finished this)
