I realize this is far reaching, but also keep in mind by not having a disc drive, you are likely facing a point in the far future of no longer owning your games when Sony either drops out of the gaming industry, stops supporting PS5 downloads many years from now, etc.

Yes, that is probably a very long time off, but as a game collector, I still like digging out my old Atari, NES, Genesis, etc. game cartridges and going nostalgic. I have had an old classic console die on me also, and in those cases, I replaced the console and the same old cartridges worked. Having an all digital PS5 when the downloads are no longer are supported would be a problem if your console died. You cannot simply move the hard drive either since the digital media is specifically tied to the one console/account...

As someone who has been gaming since the early days of video games, I have never sworn allegiance to only one console or brand. At the same time, I was really impressed when I got the original Xbox and my loyalty to it and the 360 was strong. When Mattrick did his E3 Xbox One reveal, he was saying "screw you" to me and all of Xboxs loyal fans. I instantly made PlayStation my focus after that. I still feel Microsoft has the best console, controllers and online service. I got a One a while ago, but have had trouble making it my #1 console again... Not having a strong library like the PS4 doesn't help though. I blame most of the failings on Mattrick though, so they are slowly winning me back more and more...

If this is done, we might as well as tax other violent things people consume. Extra taxes for violent movies... Violent music... TV shows... Artistic depictions... the list goes on...

I'm sorry, while I do buy digital when it is super cheap in a sale or have no choice, if I do have a choice I am all physical media. I still have game consoles and games from Atari, Colecovision, NES, Intellivision and on to current gen.... I like having those games and still having the option to play them on occasion now. Do you think those games would still be available to me if they were digital back when they were released all those years ago?!?! No way.... I want to own my games and have them for as long as I want. That cannot happen with digital....

Single player is the only way to go for me. I do not think it is dead, but if it is, I will be fine. I have a huge backlog of games spanning every generation that has been out thus far to go back to. EA and others like them will just not be getting my money anymore if that is the way they want to play it... Maybe I will take a nod towards Visceral and start by going back to those Dead Space games I haven't finished... :)

@atlassys8 Well, I don't claim to be a design architect, I am just pointing to what Reggie stated. I will say that by looking at the picture, I don't see it being that bad. It looks to me that the shoulder buttons are rounded and come to the side. It also looks like whomever is holding it will be really holding the upper half, so again, I am not sure it is as bad as you think. As far as touching the lower screen, it looks to me like you would just slide your hand down to use it though I am no expert and am not here to defend Nintendos design decisions. I have never seen one in actual person, so maybe I am wrong... Again, just presenting what Reggie claims, which I did not see in the article

I hate to say it, but Gamespot missed a significant part of Nintendos press release on this. Reggie clearly stated in interviews, that this is primarily geared for children less than 7 years old. The 3DS can cause harm to their eyes. Sure you can turn 3D off, but I am sure most parents don't want to worry with that, and the child turning it back on.

This device is not for anyone commenting in the thread. I admit it is not for me. It is for kids. For that, the form of the device seems fine. It looks like most any other kids electronic device you would find

For August, Microsoft will offer Blinx: Time Sweeper and Brute Force. Original Xbox games that are backwards compatible. They were XBox exclusive, so what a deal!!

I don't have a problem paying the price to play, but I still don't understand why these electronic manufactures have to make them even have a "vampire draw". Why can't it just be "off" with no power consumption...? I know I can unplug it or spend a good bit on a special surge protector that will cut it off, but why should I have to do that?
