cod4 and the original gears of war both sucked away countless hours of my pathetic existance...i'm depressed.

i live in so cal and we're having a brutal heat wave lately. everyone running their ac at the same time causes power surges sometimes, and one happened today when i was playing deus ex on my ps3. i have it hooked up to a surge protector, so i'm guessing its probably fine. it starts up like normal, but i havent tried any games since the surge.

i know i'm being paranoid, but is there any way my ps3 could have been damaged in any way?

it doesn't tell you this unless you change your password on a computer, but it takes up to 24 hours for the email to arrive...sucks i know.

hello guys, I have a question, it might be a dumb question, but please provide your thoughts......

Ok, canadian gamestop/eb games has a promo for ps3, they are trading in fat ones for the slims. Since the psn is down, and promo is gone by friday of this week, i had to get a slim one yesterday without shuting down my account, never purchase anything from psn anyways. However, my concern is that i did save all my games progress to usb, and now, when i've copied all data from usb on slim, im not able to load any saved information AT ALL.

I have no idea what to do?!!! Does it mean that all my saves are lost due psn **** up or do i need to wait until it goes back on, call sony, deactivate my account, and sign back in on the new ps3 in order to retrieve my saved files, trophies????

Please advise, cuz it's driving me nuts. Another thing, L.A. Noire is coming out, if start playing ti right now, with psn down, progress,trophies, will be transferred to my old psn account when psn is back, or it will be lost........i mean do i need to replay everythign once again when psn is back, and im able, if im able to retrieve my original account/psn name??

your trophies will be back when psn comes back online...don't worry about that.

however, iirc you will lose all your savegame files unless you are a psn+ subscriber. save data is locked onto the system that it was created on. there is an option with psn+ that links your save data to your psn account, but without that, most if not all of it is gone...sorry dude.

well i formatted it and it wasn't a big deal at all. yea, i lost my savegames, but it actually saved all my cod4 multiplayer stuff including rank and custom classes. so i'm pretty happy about that.

i've been experiencing a few wonky things lately with my hard drive and am thinking of reformatting. i know i'll lose all my saved games but that's ok with me since i mostly play multiplayer anyway.

my question is this: do i lose my achievements? achievements aren't a huge deal to me, but i'd like to know if i'll lose them anyway.

also: i play a lot of cod4. will i have to start all the way over at the first rank or will it remember what rank i am?
