The Assassins Creed story is just an unfocused mish-mash of events across multiple releases, possibly the result of Ubisoft's intention to milk the hell out of the franchise and just update the visuals. With such a lack of focus it's not surprising later chapters of the story will turn out to be just a little bit crap and rapidly decline in quality.

The existing combat system works well and is enjoyable. It's a faithful implementation of how Batman fights in all his other appearances within entertainment media such as film. I see no problems in keeping something that works. Change for changes sake is wasted effort that can be better spent elsewhere. There's not much option for variety anyway. A punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. There's nothing much you can do to spruce it up other than cosmetic animation changes and improved response & fluidity across all platforms and PC specifications.

@davindilator Fast travel features always solve this problem for people who do not wish to wear out their shoes.

I love the idea of no monster scaling and that you can encounter monsters in areas that will be too difficult for you until you are higher level. Things like this allow you to get a sense of progression in your abilities. Dangerous areas that you'll have to come back to later are cool but it does require an engine that allows for very large landmasses. Totally looking forward to this game.

I much prefer open world environments than the more linear and constrained focus of enclosed levels and the loading screens they often entail. Devs just need to make sure they have saturated an open world with enough things to see and meaningful things to do. An open world also serves as a great starting base on which to add meaningful and meaty DLC as long as the devs embed the added content into the world in a seamless and creative manner. Some of the Skyrim DLC does this to quite good effect.

I hope the game also has good volume control for voices so players are able crank it up in order to hear Kiefer Sutherland's whispered delivery of his lines ;)

"And let the legend come back to life."?
"A visionary robbed of his future."?

Visual quality out of this world but writing quality still stuck in translation it seems :)

@vfibsux

A Star Trek game can do well, as long as it's not under the direction of either feckless and apathetic game studios or being compromised by publisher marketing pressures resulting in unreasonable deadlines and straight-jacketed designs :)
