I've been a console gamer for like... forever. I've never been able to get into pc gaming because it costs more and in some ways just seemed overwhelming to me. But with games like Starcraft 2 and (hopefully before too long...) Diablo 3 coming out, i feel like i should broaden my gaming capabilities. The problem is, when it comes to hardware, i'm utterly lost. So...

I recently bought a laptop for college, and it's pretty decent as far as i know. But, as i said, that isn't much.
It has 4gb of ram, an intel core i3 processor (which from what i've heard is not great...) and a pretty terrible graphics card. I think it's an HP GMA HD. But no numbers with that. I tried looking it up and all i find is 8440p GMA HD and the like, which certainly sound a lot more intense than the one i've got. At any rate, taking all that into account, i just want to know what exactly i'd need to buy if i want to be able to run games like the ones listed above...not necessarily at the highest settings or anything, but i'd prefer not to be running the bare minimum either. Find a happy medium for a guy who has no idea what he's doing and has a reasonable budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't post this in the stickied thread because it's not about whether my pc can run a game right now, because i'm sure it can't. :D

Piracy is a form of theft. While there are no tangible objects taken from someone, content is taken without permission. It's not a question of whether the owner or creator of a product is deprived of a copy of the game, etc., but that they are deprived of the money they deserve to makeon the purchase of said product. A company makes a game, or a movie, or an artist makes music, etc. and that work takes time and money to make. When you pirate a game, you completelyignore the work that went into making it, and take for your own enjoyment something that you have absolutely no right to take.Bottom line, piracy is a way of getting around paying for something. You get for free what everyone who legally purchases the game paid to get. Thus, piracy is unfair to both the makers of the game, and to the community of honest gamers who still have enough respect to pay for their entertainment. Rationalize it however else you want, but you are STEALING content when you pirate it.

You only hate it so much because you let it happen. I mean really if you aren't coordinated enough to shoot someone sprinting at you before they get close enough to knife you then you have no business playing this or any other game. And if you still can't get your act together and still hate it so much, try it yourself. Same thing as the akimbo model 1887's. You only hate it when you can't do it. Then, you start owning some n00bz with it, and you stop talking bad about it. It's the circle of life.

I sucked in my modern warfare days. It may have peaked around .99, but usually hovered around .92

I inexplicably improved for WaW, averaged around 1.15

For MW2, i've improved again (mostly thanks to killstreaks XD) It peaked a while back at 1.31 and since has hovered at 1.28ish. Not bad for me.
on another note... i earned my first nuke today, but some douchebag got the last kill before i could use it. CRY WITH ME :'(

oh quit whining. If you don't like it then play another gametype. I only encountered this problem in 3rd person team tactical. And besides, wheni did I was happy. It's mass chaos. What's not to like? Isn't that why we play action games? For... you know... action? I mean the javelin glitch was one thing, but they fixed that pretty quick. This? It's a glitch--one that will soon be fixed i'm sure--but in the meantime, enjoy it.

Bioshock 2 for me. Mass Effect was fun while it lasted, but one playthrough was more than enough for me. It got too repetitive-- the only thing that really changed throughout the game was stronger versions of weapons you already had with better upgrades than the ones you already had against enemies who were progressively tougher than the ones you already fought. The story was kind of weak IMO; everyone's heard the same super advanced alien destroyer race story plenty. BioShock's story was told at a perfect pace through the perfect medium- you got enough of it to know what was going on by just progressing, but to get the real idea of the true nature of the city and it's people, you had to dig deep into the beautifully crafted environments. Not only is the story gripping, but the game incorporates the morality choices Mass Effect has just as much into the game, and i have to say the combat is at least as good as Mass Effect's. Big Daddy > Geth every time. When you play on hard, unless you're going the lame route and just firing away until you respawn in the vita chamber and lather rinse repeat, you get a truly suspenseful and intense combat experience to go with the rest of the perfection. My favorite game on the 360 bar none.

I'm not saying Mass Effect was bad, or that I'm not excited for the sequel. But i gotta say, i'm expecting great things out of BioShock 2. Just hope 2K Marin can pull it off...
