I am indeed starting from scratch. I have some knowledgeable friends who can help build it, plus the awesome stickied guide, so that part should be covered. I'm just looking for a few ideas for a list of parts. But yeah, as of now I have literally nothing. I'll need a monitor and the OS as well, but don't worry about factoring that stuff into my limit, I can figure that out later.

Hello computer people. :)
I've always been a console gamer, and for the most part consider myself computer illiterate. Okay, not completely, but I figure I must seem that way to most of you posting on this forum. That being said, a friend got me really into PC gaming this year at college, what with his shiny delicious graphics and PC exclusives. So basically, i'm looking to get into it. I've got a good bit of graduation money left over, and plan to get a job this summer, so I have a chunk of cash sitting here waiting to be used for awesomeness. So. My mission for the people here who are infinitely wiser than I in computer stuff- Build me (well not physically, just links to parts on newegg would be great) the absolute best pc you can for ~1000 bucks. If you can manage to put together a rig for less, and it'll still run everything I wanna play on extra delicious ultra mode, then by all means shave some money off the top of that. But my upper limit is definitely 1k.
Thanks in advance. :)

Don't count on it. There's virtually no reason to release a new console anytime soon. I wouldn't expect a new console from anyone until at least 2013, and at that point it would probably be nintendo since the wii is...wiitacular and such. Not that they aren't making boatloads of cash, I just kinda feel like even the casual gamers will get over the gimmick nonsense before too long, and Nintendo will have to pull something else out. Anyways, with the release of move for ps3 and kinect on 360, I figure we're at something of a halfway point in this gen. There'll be some innovation with those new capabilities, some solid development for a few more years, and then an announcement of a new console way on down the road. I can virtually guarantee sony's press conference will be primarily NGP based at e3 this year. They've got enough going on there to last a while. So yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't expect to see (or really even WANT to see) anything on a PS4 until at least 2-3 years from now.

Demon's Souls will scare you pants-less. Play World 3 and you will never be the same again.

Swift_Boss_A

DON'T.
EVEN.
GO THERE.
3-2, man. Nightmares. One wrong step? DEAD. Oh, you made it to the bottom level? HYBRID-MAN-CENTIPEDE ATTACK. Got past all that unscathed? MANEATER. Doing well in the fight so far? HAVE ANOTHER BOSS. It just never ended...

I don't understand why so many people have been hating on it. I got exactly what I expected from the movie; it delivers plenty of gratuitous hyper-stylized cinematic action violence preformed by extremely attractive young women with a lot of cg and special effects. The rest of the movie kind of drags on and doesn't add much...in fact it sort of detracts from the more entertaining parts. But even so, it's an entertaining film overall.

Serraph105

see now that is something I disagree on. I thought the action was fairly dull due to the fact that the girls never once appeared to be in danger right from the very first battle. The main chick gets kicked through a wall and several other things while she is flying though the air. When we see her get up she doesn't have so much as a bruise heck even her hair was still in perfect condition. It kind of kills any tension immediately.

I hear you there. I did have to laugh a bit when it was all said and done, considering all that happened was she got weapons, an old guy says DEFEND YOURSELF, and all of a sudden she's a ninja. It doesn't make sense necessarily, but the way I see it in a movie where enemies include mechanical Nazis, dragons, and robots, you shouldn't be worried as much about the practicality as you are about the spectacle. I just don't think the movie was ever intended to be much more than a shallow visual playground filled with scantily clad hot chicks wielding katanas, assault rifles, and in one super awesome instance, a tomahawk.

Cause some people expect actual character development and an a good story, not just action and special effects and attractive women.

But it's Zack Snyder man. What I'm saying is that people who did expect character development and a good story were expecting too much. Did you really see previews for the movie and think that it was going to be deep or intellectual in any way? All I saw was Emily Browning slicing a robot in half with a katana. Doesn't exactly bode well for the narrative aspect of the movie.
