The "illegal" racing scene may be long, and gone. But, the import racing scene is still up, and running. Typically closed-circuit. Legit. Gamewise, only a trickle of games have come out on said genre, unfortunately. Personally, I would rather a racing game to these "shoot this character here. Complete this objective there" games saturating the market these days.

What I am seeing, as far as when people say this, and/or that about a particular game, isn't so much that they don't like the game. Though, most of them may try to force the point out. In essence, what I have been seeing is more along the lines that, since the gaming world, as a whole has been saturated with games that, though not necessarily subpar, don't contain most of the elements that games like Metal Gear, or Final Fantasy has had over the years. True depth. Something that carries it far deeper than any generic video game has ever even thought to garner. Though many a game developers have tried, very few have actually managed to capture the depth, the intensity that games such as these two have managed to conquor.

Many, as with the topic creator are probably already stuck on the whole "I just want to get this game over, and done with. I don't want, nor need a story. I just want to play the game" mentality. Sadly, it is this mentality that keeps one from actually enjoying every aspect of games such as these. In example; Storyline. Character Development. Things of this nature. Most are more inclined into saying. "Hey look! I got a game that looks good!" And, forget the all around creative process that goes into making such games. Unfortunately, you can't please them all. In any case, to answer your question topic creator... Perhaps it was given a 10 considering it is, afterall the majority of the gaming community that sees the game worthy of such a high rating. Whereas a rare few may not. Though, ratings are given under the impression by a large consensus. Not a small few. So, where you may not like it. Many others do. And, as they say... It's the numbers that count.

[QUOTE="CoreyNT"]Ya, I don't think any company is bragging. Just took something good from GeOW and put it in their games.enygma500

MGS2 had a cover system before GeOW did. and there were games long before even that that had em. GeOW has nothing new to it.

People seem to be forgetting that one particular game made the cover system what it is today. Kill.Switch.

Perhaps the reason behind people, (like me) saying that the 60 gig is "the best" is for the simple fact that it is the only SKU versio of the PS3 that contains not only the PS3 hardware. But, also PS2's hardware (namely the Emotion Engine.) Thus making ALL of the PS2 games immediately compatible with that SKU version. Whereas the 80 gig uses emulation software to run a (though rather large) percentage of PS2 games.

My take is this... Why risk it? You have a system that'll undenyably play every single one of the PS2 games out there. And, even with the 80 gig's (high) percentage, there may be one, or two games out there that may not run on it. Yes the percentage of failure is rather small. But, I "personally" would not risk it. With many PS2 games still coming out, it isn't really worth the risk. But, again... My take on it.

I disagree. It's a simplitic idea. Well crafted. Beautiful looking, no matter how one cuts it. Sure it isn't the sort of game where you shoot to kill other digital creations. But, the whole concept of it. How it panned out. That alone warrants the awards it got, and so well deserves.

Did at any part in my statement show me saying I still had the PlayStation 2? No? Good eye. Anyway. So, tell me. How does my getting rid of my PlayStation 2 show my "not caring". Especially when you take into account that Sony did in fact promise backwards compatibility? Did they, or did they not promise that BEFORE they even sent their very first batch to market? Yes? And, now...To save a few dollars, they are shafting some that still possess PlayStation 2 games. Who may still either A.) Be on the fence on the purchase, or. B.) Still working on the purchase. The 60 gig. Which thankfully I happen to have, has been discontinued. Which, as any sane, person may tell you is the better purchase. The 80 gig is "rumored" to be discontinued. (Don't quote me on that.) Thus, leaving only the 40 gig. Which has NO backwards compatibility. Again, those that got rid of their previous system, on the previously stated promise, get the shaft. My whole point is this. Fine. You don't care for it. You have your system. Enjoy it. But, don't come here giving us the whole "holier than thou" attitude, just because you don't wish to see things through other people's eyes.

And, I, sir, grow so very tired of hearing this same sort of nonesense from people of like mind. So, let me get this straight. Just because "you" (and a select few) don't care much for PlayStation 2 games, and just beacuse "you" (and a select few) don't care much for backwards compatibility we're not supposed too? Did you spend from upwards of hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on "our" PlayStation 2 games? No. You didn't. Right? Look. We bought these games with our hard-earned cash. Why? Was it was because it was the "in" thing? No. So, why did we buy them? Could it be... Oh, I don't know... Possibly because we actually take great enjoyment from them? It is our right, and priveledge to care about these purchases we made with our money. But, yet you would have us throw all that money away, just because "you" don't care much for them, much less for backwards compatibility. You must have a ton of money to throw away, to forget previous purchases, simply because something "more advanced" has come into the picture. Sorry. Some of us don't see it that way.

Unforunately, it doesn't work that way. At least, not right now. Perhaps later on, down the road. But, for now, it don't. Do what most of us do. set aside some time for it. While you do other things, away from the system. The elecricity usage can't be that horribly bad that it'll affect the bill. But, if you're too worried about that, then set aside...i would say...about an hour or so a day, just for F@H. Just a suggestion.

The moral of the story is.. Don't risk it. It's not worth it. Just buy a new one. Yes. It's expensive. But, it's better this way, than risk anything happening to the system's inner workings, and have to spend twice the amount of the new game itself.
