Most jp shops sell R2 but there are some with loads of R3s and the shopowners don't do much help by saying DLCs SHOULD work... =/

Hi guys, I want to get this question answered clearly once and for all.
So if I am staying in the US, the majority of my PS3 games should be R1 so as to attain workable US DLCs from the US PSN.
If I am staying in Japan, the majority of my PS3 games are R2? or R3? to make sure that the DLCs from the JP PSN work for the game.
In Asia where I currently am I just need to ensure my PS3 games are R3 and regardless of what languages they are in the DLCs work as per normal.
So anyways I am gonna be going over to stay in JP for sometime pretty soon so just wanted to find out before I go over. Otherwise I could always get a new PS3 when I'm there.
I usually try to do a level a day. Or for games wih lesser levels a safe point or an objective a day. About 2-3 hours of gaming so I get to enjoy the game and the story...
So for the Asian PSN you need to be 21 to make a master account and it actually kind of sucks. Because when I got my PS3 I was two months away from turning 21 and so I had to use a random year for my birthday (which I now can't remember) to set it up. I know that birthdates can't be changed because of the requirement for password recovery but is there a way that I can make a new PSN ID (with accurate info this time) and reassociate that with my current PS3 ID and transfer all my trophies and friends info as well as messages onto the new PSN ID?
I am not sure if trophies are stored on PSN or your PS3 ID. My guess is PSN so I am basically screwed (it is actually not that bad but I can't think of a word to use here) aren't I?
Mine is in my sig... So far only have 3 PS3 games... RE5, SFIV and Dead Space... Sad and Under-utilised? I know... haha... Awaitiing Heavy Rain...
