[QUOTE="GSNews"]I currently use a Sony 19" LCD monitor at 1280 x 1024, 75Hz. Do you think I'll have much of a boost? THe last time I tried DVI, I only had the highest goto 60Hz, would that be enough or do the newer cards go higher?GTABjr
Generally for monitors, at the highest resolution 60Hz is the highest refresh rate which is plenty if you ask me. But the benefits of using DVI are worth it. The picture is noticably more sharp and vibrant in color....i say noticably because i noticed it but it is definitely no HUGE change, but its worth it. also you no longer have to adjust your screen size and position to fit the screen. it fits edge to edge atomatically. Go with DVI for sure.
If you're using DVI, you're way more than likely using an LCD, on which refresh rates are totally irrelevant. Auto adjust is another advantage inherent in LCDs, not DVI.
The benefits of using DVI aren't terribly pronounced. It is better, but it's not a night and day difference.
For one, that would be agonizingly slow. Secondly, Microsoft has an RDC client for Mac OS X. I'm not sure how compatible it is with Leopard though. I've only used it lightly since I installed Leopard.
I hope you're aware that most operating systems are only going to detect 3.3GB of those 8GB of RAM, so that's pointless too.
