@wg_mcfartypants: I think you missed something here. I am saying with live is down have the system run a check and say it "can't connect to live" but the status says it is "up" Do you get what I am saying?

First thing that pisses me off about the outage is Microsoft seems to not want to admit from their end there is a problem. I'm sitting here resetting modems pissing off my family all because I cant log into Xbox live and watch Netflix.

if there was a little message that simply said hey we are down right now check back soon I would be cool with that.

instead the network test tells me my internet is fine but then there is this unknown reason from there to Xbox live connection not working. But the statuses say they're up. Bullshit. Come on Microsoft don't be like that.

be honest.

@ristactionjakso: but they can't really do this when MSFT is cutting deals and developing their own good games.

@nblrmt: The controller is the same as the 360 and I can't imagine how you are saying that? Have you seriously picked up the controller and played with it for any serious amount of time?

I will say one thing. i don't like the bumper buttons... I felt the old ones were better IMHO.

@JoKeR_421: You're JokerIng right? Seriously Xbox Live is better this isn't even a question. And, to boot PS4 got off to a bit of a rocky spot even with multiplayer gameplay. To be clear Xbox Live is rock solid. Now, with Sony charging, the same price as MS, hopefully it will build to be on par.

@ewalthour: lol sounds like you want an Xbox One. See this is kinda of the point I was making. But I will add to the conversation to make it interesting. I feel Microsoft is going to have a severe advantage when it comes to the app ecosystem with Xbox One. With that said you could start seeing Instagram and Angry Birds in the future with the Xbox ecosystem.

With that said what could sony do? Well, they could, in theory, obtain integration of an Android type emulator. This would allow Android and its huge app collection onto Sony's network. Now how the SDK's for the controller and a bunch of other things I am not sure of would work but if they did it then that could completely level the playing field for Sony without them doing much work.

I am telling you the secret weapon for the Xbox are the Apps it is going to unleash from the Windows 8.1 RT side of things. It could be epic and a real game changer. This is the biggest thing Sony needs to be wary of. If they align with Google it could help alleviate the problem.

Also you mentioned Skype. Microsoft in reality would want Sony to be able to use Skype on its platform. Skype costs money so there is an advantage for Microsoft allowing it. Perhaps event Microsoft could work out an emulator deal with Sony for its app ecosystem.

The advantage would be whatever app ecosystem SDK adjustments Microsoft has to make for the Xbox - that existing system might be easy for Sony to adopt and use on the Playstation. Hell why not? Its like a computer as far as Microsoft is concerned and it's kinda like MS using a Blueray player right.

Either way this is going to be of utter importance for Sony to address its strategy going forward.

Microsoft forgot that Sony has a TV division that will intergrate most of the Xbone app features in the next gen TV's. Xbone sales are bound to drop hard within a few years. Furthermore, I believe that Microsoft has underestimated competition coming from internet providers, who are keen on intergrating internet and TV. There will be many high quality mediaboxes in the next few years.

Smart TV from Samsung and even Google TV have failed misserably. Even Apple TV has not had any success. Apps will not be built unless there is an ecosystem driving it. Now the secret is if you build an app for Windows 8.1 you are essentially building an app for Xbox. This will have much more appeal to developers. It makes so much sense. Now, that is not to say that Sony's PS4 won't have a robust ecosystem but in terms of Apple style Ecosystem - AND ONLY IF Microsoft doesn't screw it up - Microsoft could have an amazing ecosystem unmatched by any other console.

Oh and again this conversation has been very enlightening and well mannered. Why would I want to ask a bunch of Xbox people if they feel the Xbox is the better console?

Having a well mannered debate doesn't mean we are having a systems war.

One of the things I learned is that Sony has a lot more exclusives possibly coming out than I had known about or expected. The only exclusive which I liked a lot was Ratchet and Clank. I seriously love that game.

I appreciate the responses. In no way did I want a negative commenting system war or anything like that. I was just wanted to hear honest responses from Sony people. I do feel Sony has the ability to compete and the competition between the 3 systems is honestly good for everyone. In this go round however I really felt there was so much "hype" for something that may not be able to back it up in the long term.

And I very well may be wrong.
