There's one catch though: if a USB 3.0 device requires USB 3,0 speeds (such as a external BlueRay player, 1080P decoder etc), then it would be impossible for it to function in a USB 2.0 port due to lack of bandwidth. Also, a MFG must go the extra mile and include hardware for a USB 3.0 device to function in a USB 2.0 port, or otherwise the device will not recognize the port and render it incompatible.

So basically I can't use the existing USB headers in my case to run with full USB capabilities. Bugger. Oh well. I shall contact OriginAE and see if they will be supplying a USB 3 replacement.

Thanks for all the detailed responses.

Hi I have an Orign AE S14v media centre case with 2 USB headers on the front panel. If I replaced my motherboard with one supporting USB 3, would the header ports support USB 3 speeds?

I know USB3 is backwards compatible with USB2 but can existing IO Headers use USB to their full potential?

Many thanks.

Chris.

It seems silly to assume, then, that we are "forgetting" PC gamers, don't you think?

Kevin-V

Well it seems that some prominent games have been released recently and there has been no PC reviews for them.

The reason for concern was merely due to the fact that the review for the x360 version came out the week of release but the PC review has yet to be seen.

Thank you for looking into this.

Hi I've been waiting paitiently for getting on to 2 months now for a PC review of Frontlines Fuel of War. Is it likely to be published any time soon? Why has there been such a delay? The xbox 360 version was released "fairly" promptly so why not the PC version?

I know you've had a few issues in the staffing department recently, but if you can churn out reviews for the likes of Audiosurf, Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory, Cleopatra: Riddle of the Tomb etc couldn't you perhaps spare the time for the PC review of Frontlines?
Or have you forgotten about us PC gamers again....you know the huge chunk of your user base?

I'm trying to complete level 4 where you have to rescue a bloke from prison, unfortunatly, I've either missed something or there is a bug because I have no idea how to rescue him?

I can't get into their base because I don't have siege engines to destroy the walls (its too early in the campaign) i've tried using the thief but he approaches the prison and doesn't do anything?

I can't see any other way of getting into their base?

Any ideas would be very welcome

Thanks in advance

Chris

For its shear open endedness.

Battlefield 2
Vehicles, planes, huge maps 64 players on line.

Crysis
Just an amazing single player. Great gameplay and gorgeous graphics.

Half Life - Series
The story in the Half Life games is truely brilliant, I just wish they would get on with telling it.

Stalker
A first person RPG: what's not to like. Great story and love the open ended gameplay. I've spent months playing this game.

Close Calls:

Team Fortress 2. Its just so much fun!

Dark Messiah can also be addedIrongrinder1

Sorry yes DM can be added I purchased the retail version and added it but that uses the source engine...

As to the poster above, I think you are adding them as Iron Grinder suggested in which case you won't receive game updates although I may be wrong??? I'll have a look at STALKER later and see if I can add that.

Steam is great. I don't use the cd's I just put in the cd codes in steam and download it. ferrari2001

Its probably a good idea to mention that you can't enter codes for games you didn't purchase from Steam. i.e if you have a boxed version of Stalker you can't enter your Stalker key into steam.

I think the only Non-Valve game that allows code entry is Prey although there maybe a couple of others. Generally though you can only add retail games from Valve to steam.

Anyone got any ideas why gamespot haven't released a review of Frontlines Fuel of War yet?

Its been over 2 weeks since it was released and still nothing...

Is it because Kaos/THQ have "asked" them to hold off until the game is patched? I think THQ must have paid hansomely for some of the top advertisement spots on Gamespot thats bound to hold some sway right? (conspiracy nuts take note)

Or are there just not enough staff there anymore to review the games in a timely fashion?

I tend to wait for reviews to buy and although gamespot has gone down hill recently the reviews are still fairly good and I've been waiting patiently for some hint of a review.

Thanks very much

Chris
