Your friends are false. There is no definition of gamer outside of a person that plays games as a hobby. No further discussion.

[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"]It's been a fun ride, while it has its shortcomings, it also has some of the best games this gen, and Super Mario Galaxy is on its own level of greatness. Happy Birthday Wii :)Brodomski
Super Mario Galaxy isn't actually fun to play. People just pretend it is because they think they're mature for not dismissing a game that many deem kiddy. Like, "Yeah, I'm so above the fear of being branded as childish, my favorite game is considered kiddy. Do you believe me? Huh, do you? Because it really is. I swear."

You could say the same about Zelda. SMG is, IMO, the most fun game to come out this generation (2 to be exact), and it's not because I like to be considered mature. It's that it's immature to divide things into childish and mature where the true problem lies. You shouldn't have to be preoccupied with such silliness when you've grown up.

It's had a good run. It's been lacking in releases, but it also has some amazing games of its own, particularly my favorite game of this generation, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

[QUOTE="calvinsora"]

I have no problem with the GS review or score, but the reviews are hardly mixed. That implies that there's a fairly sizeable consituence of people that disagree with another group of reviewers, which is clearly not the case. This is an example of what is literally called universally positive review scores. Again, I'm not "debunking" Tom's assessment but it's hardly the right usage of the word mixed.

dvader654

Oh come on, these are video game reviews, they use a scale of 10-7. A gap of 2 points is huge for a title like this. At least to me there is a clear difference in quality from a game that I consider a 10 to one that I consider an 8. You understand that a huge chunk of the reviews think this is the greatest Zelda, the best Wii game ever made and an absolute masterpiece. Another large group thinks its just more of the same, the worst Zelda and just any other big release this year that isn't that special. So yeah there is very mixed reaction to this game.

Even the 8 reviews for this game are positive. Tom liked this game, the score under it says "good". The group of people that think it's more of the same (which is a weird complaint seeing how much it changes), isn't big. Not big at all. I've only seen a few people that have played the game and think it's not good.

[QUOTE="dr-professional"] However the gaps inbetween those games as well as recent sales of console and software seem to indicate the Wii is on its knees.dr-professional

The reason it's losing sales is because all of the people that want a Wii *already have it*. The releases haven't been steady, but it's got enough quality titles that I'd never consider selling it. I've never regretted buying it, something I've done with my PS3 back when I got it at first.

Except your perspective

...? What about my perspective? Of course the last sentence was completely my opinion and I don't expect nearly everyone to agree with me there. However, the Wii is the best-selling console of this generation, it's in fact one of the most successful systems ever. It's natural for a system with that much market dominance has a slow-down in sales.

[QUOTE="dr-professional"] Because fanboys are going crazy. Then it's going to end up like MW2 or TP and have like 9 points down from that. Unless those fanboys keep taking thos drugs. Which BTW I did not perscribe them.dr-professional

9.4 from critics. C-R-I-T-I-C-S. A 10 from Edge, which is one of the best review mags IMO. A 9 from Games TM, another great review team. It won't be going much lower than that, it's that the majority of people absolutely love the game.

Because critics can be fanboys... Wait? Oh and the fact most critics are aged around late 20's meaning that (in theory) most of them grew up with which system? This also can affect nostalgia levels but let's calm down with that it's used to much here.

Ah, nostalgia, the comfortable way to devalue someone's opinion when you have no other argument. I'm pretty sure many reviewers there grew up with the Megadrive, Nintendo's huge competitor back then. Then there is the PS generation. EDGE with nostalgia is just a bizarre concept, they're ridiculously strict on that facet alone.

Wii started off weak, got SMG, got SSB: Brawl, got Donkey Kong Returns, got Super Mario Galaxy 2 (my favorite game this gen), got Xenoblade Chronicles, got Skyward Sword, got Kirby's Epic Yarn, got New Super Mario Bros. Wii, got Metroid Prime Trilogy, got Metroid Other M, got World of Goo, got the Bit Trip games, got No More Heroes 1 and 2 and a number of other games. Personally, it's only got a lot, LOT stronger as the time has passed.

[QUOTE="dr-professional"] To be honest you Zelda fnas hype almost everygame to be the next coming of god and think it will split the seas, so I think it's about time someone smacked some sanity into your heads. Especially with a broken combat system which is broken. Oh and more repetitive dungeons!dr-professional

The game has a 9.4 average metacritic rating, it's not doing badly at all :?

What's to agree on, that's a fact. Not a fact that means much, though.
