I usually buy new, unless the guy at the game store hints that the game sucks, in which case I will buy used in case I want to return it (damned return policies). Other than that the only reason I buy used games is if the game is out of print or hard to find, although thats rare. A few years ago I bought Silent Hill for ps used on EBay for 35 dollars, the seller said that it was like new in original case with manual- no scratches... two and a half months later after trying to contact the seller ( who had a stellar rep.) and leaving negative feedback, I finally got my package, it contained a very scratched copy ofSilent Hill in a blank jewelcase, no cover art and definately no manual. Thatt kind of left a sour taste in my mouth for buying used online and I've only done it a few times since.

I agree that this is indeed not a good thing, at least for me as I'mon full disability and gaming is my main outlet to relieve boredom and 4 to 6 titles in two months is a bit too much for me to afford, not that I want any of these games pushed back, cough cough. Just saying I like this trend of spreading out the release schedual past the holidays as I'm not a child and don't really dependon getting my games from family or as gifts from friends.

The only "buginess" I've come across in Win7 x64 is from the current Creative X-Fi drivers, because I have to shut down and restart my computer once every 24 hours or the sound gets crackly, and that problem wasn't there on the first set of Win7 drivers or the betas for x32, just the current x64 ones.

aaaaargh!

Software 'piracy' is NOT theft.

look up the meaning of theft in a law book.

Theft involves depriving a person of a thing. Someone who rips off a game is not depriving anyone of an object.

Sheesh. I know piracy is pretty uncool but using over emotive language like theft is ludicrous. Why not call it rape, genocide, or a war crime?

They are just as accurate.

Someone who goes against a copyright law is NOT commiting theft, look-

The Theft Act 1968 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom,

The basic definition of theft is defined in S.1(1) of the Act.

The Act states that

A person shall be guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it.

drdoris

In my opinion it is rape too, rape of a persons intellectual property, and genocide of an entire user bases way of life by taking away many of the priveledges we enjoy from sony for using their product hack-free, now the legit users can lose a bunch of stuff that we've enjoyed for so long because some ***hat wanted to show what an egghead he was, and if these "homebrew developers" are sooo good, why can't they just buy the damn sdk even just the one for minis, thats supposed to be pretty cheap, oh yeah, because they want everything for free (read: theft), I forgot...

Edit: And as far as used games hurt ing devs more than piracy, a.) they are pretty pissed at that too and b.) you can't negate the effects of something by saying that something else is worse. c.) I'm pretty sure Gamestop and Amazon, etc. have cut deals with all the major publishing houses in regards used games, because iof they didn't why wouldn't they just take their business elsewhere?

What about DLC that was made to fix a game ending that the devs obviously were smoking crack the day they wrote it if they thought people would be happy with it the way it was, like the Prince of Persia retread that came out the Christmas before last, The DLC for that was just made to appease pissed off fans, milk a few bucks more off of us suckers who played the whole game to begin with, and maybe get a few more cussies to buy the game who heard the ending stunk like dirty azz and charged way too much for something that should have been free. That kind of ending is good in a Stephen King book, not PoP. AND they way overpriced it hell it should have been given away for free as an apology, instead it cost...wait, let me fire up my PS3 and check...9.99- and I guarantee that price will never go down because noone sane would touch it even at a discount because of what a rip-off it is.

Edit: BTW @newhighscore- Your avatar is sooo creepy, I love it!

The thing is, DLC used to pretty much be used onlyas an alternateway to deliver expansion packs, but as graphics havegotten better, the size of the content has balloned massively and with bandwidth usage caps being so prevalent the expansion packs became add-ons, and from there its only natural for a company to want to make more money while spending less on production and other overhead so some unscrupulous companies started making things that should really have been included as part of the original package into paid DLC and people have really responded positively to this so they will probably continue doing this, and itwill also probably get a lot worse. I think it really started with preorder bonuses, like preorder this game and get the special weopon unlock, which they then starrted to sell as DLC for everyone after the games release.

I switched to XP from Windows 2000 when I started gaming and didn't really like the interface as much, then I got Vista on the day it came out and it took a long time for MS, hardware vendors and game devsto work out the bugs on it, so it sucked for a long time, but it eventually got to be pretty close to as good for gaming as XP, Then I got Win 7 x64 and was really impressed with how well it runs even when its compared to vista with its second SP, but it still doesn't play quite as nicely as XP, I think because it run on the same basic infrastructure as Vista does, and there have been way less problems from the start because everyone is used to the platform now. I couldn't and wouldn't want to go back to XP, it was just so clunky and ugly, and XP x64 was horrible btw, they hadvery little harwaredriver support byjust about everyone. So short answer is: Yes it is worth it, even though you take a small performance hit compared to XP.

Edit: Also keep in mind that a lot of people who bash Windows Vist and 7 used it very early on, during the time when the industry is still adjusting towhichever new platform is current, and when they experienced any problem that was something they had never seen on XP they got scared and went back, and being so traumatized by the experienc they tell everyone they see how bad it is even years later when all those bugs are worked out.
